Sunscreen Essentials

Although summer is winding down and many of us are looking forward to fall, we all know that we should be wearing sunscreen daily even now because the sun protection offers optimum protection against the harmful effects of sun exposure. Today I want to share with you a few sunscreens that has become staples in my daily routine. These multitasking daily face and body moisturizers make sun protection way easier.

Just remember that, as with any other sunscreen, you still need to reapply these throughout the day in order to stay protected. You should look for a “broad spectrum” sunscreen that protects you from both UVA and UVB rays. The UVB rays are the ones that cause burns, but UVA rays penetrate your skin much deeper, causing premature aging. UVA rays are what you need to protect yourself from, even on cloudy days, too!! I’ve tried a lot of SPF face creams, and these are some of the only ones that doesn’t break me out.

Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47

This all-natural, chemical-free moisturizer relies on skin-loving ingredients such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide to protect against sun damage. It also packs moisturizing argan oil, green tea, and an innovative complex of antioxidants called SunBoost ATB, resulting in powerful sun protection. I’ve been using this moisturizer all summer. It comes out slightly thick and there’s also a very slight white sunscreen cast but that disappears within a couple minutes. It feels lightweight on the face which is great because I hate that heavy feeling you can get from certain sunscreens/moisturizers, and my skin feels hydrated but not greasy. It nourishes the skin while protecting from environmental aggressors. The real pluses are that it works fantastic under makeup, and it has no Parabens, Sulfates or Phthalates. It retails for CAD $40.00 for 2oz and I purchased mine at Sephora.

Photoderm has a NEW LOOK!

You’ll probably know Bioderma best as the purveyor of the cult favourite Sensibio H2O Micellar Water. Well, there’s a goldmine of skincare to be found beyond that innovative water, though, and it’s seriously worth checking out! Another of their range is Photoderm! Photoderm pays particular attention to skin and sun!

Photoderm SPF40 Spray*

Ok, so if you hate the white and sticky consistency of traditional sunscreen, well, then, you’re gonna love Bioderma Photoderm SPF40 Spray. This comes packaged in a convenient spray bottle. All you do is simply spray onto your skin, rub in, and you’re good to go! This high photoprotection spray stimulates the skin’s self-defence system to guarantee high UVA/UVB protection against the harmful effects of the sun. It activates the skin’s natural defences, protects from risks of cellar damage and combats premature cutaneous ageing. I love how lightweight it feels and it is non-greasy and doesn’t leave any white traces. Although you can use on both the face and body, I only use this on my body. It is perfect for on the go!! It retails for $29.95 for 200ml – available in Drugstores.

Photoderm SPF50+ Milk*

This high photoprotection milk stimulates the skin’s self-defence systems and just like the Photoderm SPF40 Spray, it also guarantees high UVA/UVB protection against the harmful effects of the sun. Depending on my day and how much time I’ll be spending in the sun, I alternate between this and the Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47. This also works fantastic under my makeup as well. It leaves my skin soft and I love that it activates the skin’s natural defence to help protect the risk of cellular damage and combat premature ageing. It has a slightly heavier texture than the JM moisturizer but it hydrates really well, and doesn’t leave any white traces. It retails for $29.95 for 200ml – available in Drugstores.

Have you tried any of these? What is your favourite SPF moisturizer/sunscreen?

xo ❤
