THE MICELLAR WATER EDIT

And my top 3 favourites…

THE MICELLAR WATER EDIT

Happy Monday beauties! It’s a cloudy, gloomy day here in Toronto with lots of rain; hence my gloomy photos today. It’s also starting to get cold now. I think we’re suppose to get some sun on Wednesday, yay! Oh the little things we get excited about 🙂 Okay, so let’s jump into today’s post!

It’s no question, I love micelle waters. They are great for removing your makeup, as a pre-cleanse, toning, cleaning and hydrating the skin. Firstly, I do not recommend ditching properly washing your face, as a quick swipe across the forehead is not going to do it. Nothing compares to properly washing your face the traditional way with a soap/cream or gel cleanser and then rinsing off with water. I prefer using micellar waters as my final step in my cleansing routine, just to ensure I have removed every trace of residue from my face. I also like using the cleansing water first to get makeup off, followed by a regular face cleanser to make sure there is no trace of makeup left on my face. So I do recommend trying these out but not as a replacement for your whole skincare routine.

Bioderma Micelle Solutions x3*

The Bioderma Micelle Solutions are some of the best micellar waters I have tried! They are super gentle and I like that there’s other variants available now, one for sensitive skin, dehydrated sensitive skin and for oily skin; so no matter what your skin type, you are sure to find one that you will love!

Bioderma Sensibio H2O, This famous cleansing water is an industry favourite and can be found backstage at pretty much every fashion show. This ultra-gentle, fragrance-free cleansing water removes makeup without irritating skin. This is the one that is specifically for sensitive skin. I like that it doesn’t leave any residue on the skin. This is good for the face, but not so great for eye makeup.

The Bioderma SĂ©bium H2O is a purifying cleansing micellar water designed for oily skin. I don’t have oily skin, except in my T-zone but this one is really nice. This one is slightly scented with a fresh almost cucumber-like scent but very gentle. Since this one is designed for oily skin I initially thought it wouldn’t work well for my combination/dry skin but it didn’t strip the skin. You can really feel it clean the pores and it contains ingredients to help clear the skin.

Bioderma Hydrabio H2O is designed for those with dehydrated skin. This is my favorite of the three and it’s like this product was made for me. This cleansing water not only cleanses, removes make-up, but it helps to moisturize even the most dehydrated skin. It contains glycerin, which gives the hydrating benefits. It removes all traces of dirt, oil and makeup without a greasy or oily residue. It also helps to soothe skin, leaving it soft, clean and hydrated with no film left behind or sticky texture.

All three of these perform really well at removing my face makeup. These are all available in travel sizes so they are the perfect size and price to try out before buying the full sized versions. They are also great for weekends away or flights.

Jouviance Micelle Solution*

This is a nice gentle and refreshing make-up remover. This instantly refreshes, cleanses and removes make-up, without irritating skin. Leaves the complexion toned and revitalized and I like that it didn’t dry out my skin nor did it irritate it.

Garnier Micellar Water

If Bioderma Sensibio H20 is out of your price range or you just can’t get your hands on it where you live, try this Garnier version instead. I wouldn’t say there really is a huge difference between the two though I think I might prefer the Bioderma version a little better. Garnier is also much more affordable. It’s gentle, removes most of my makeup with no scrubbing required and it really freshens my skin. They even do a version for oily and sensitive skin, too.

Caudalie Micellar Cleansing Water

First I must mention that the packaging on this has changed from what I have pictured. The product is the exact same though. I purchased a couple of these as backups last year prior to the packaging change. This is the first cleansing water that I tried when I did not know what the heck micelle water was or how it was used. This is a soothing, gentle micellar water ideal as a face and eye makeup remover. It has a nice, light natural scent and deeply cleanses without removing the skin’s natural moisture. It is gentle, extremely effective and doesn’t leave me tight or red. I only wish it wasn’t so darn expensive!

Simple Cleansing Micellar Water

I have to admit that this is my least favorite of the bunch! When I tried this over a year ago, I really enjoyed it then but I must admit that I hadn’t tried many micellar waters at the time nor did I have the experience with them. Since I have now tried a few, I now know what’s effective. This does a very poor job of removing makeup. I needed several cotton rounds covered in this to completely take off a full face of makeup. This also does not remove waterproof mascara or long wearing makeup and I find that it leaves behind a good deal as well! It is also a little drying on my skin. However, it’s a great low maintenance way to remove makeup if you wear very minimal makeup.

Nature Republic JeJu Sparkling Cleansing Water (Korean Brand)

Hubby brought this back from South Korea earlier this year and I have been using it on/off ever since! This cleanser contains carbonic JeJu Sparkling water from Jeju Mountain Sanbang Springs, which functions as both a makeup remover and a facial cleanser and eliminates skin impurities requiring no additional facial wash. It provides instant hydration and deep cleansing. This is one of my favorites because it is so gentle and soothing on the skin. It leaves my skin so hydrated and soft and it has an amazing fresh clean scent.

So which are my top three favourites? While I do enjoy all of these, I would have to say at this time, Bioderma Hydrabio, Caudalie and the Korean brand are my favourites. These are such fantastic cleansing waters that not only soothes and hydrates but are very effective in getting any left over residue without stripping my skin.

Do you use micellar water and what are your favourite ones?
