So today’s post is a little different for me as I’ll be chatting a bit about feminine hygiene. I must admit I was a bit skeptical to cover this on my blog although it’s something I have thought about doing before but quite honestly was never really sure where to start. So when Veeda contacted me for a collaboration, I saw this as an opportunity to use this platform in educating women to make informed decisions about feminine care and our bodies, while also finding natural alternatives to replace my regular monthly products. We’re all girls here (at least most of my readers are) and we have periods; so while it may be embarrassing for some to talk about, it is important to be aware of anything that may be affecting our body and health.
Are you aware that conventional tampons and pads from most leading brands contain various blends of viscose rayon, bleached cotton and/or synthetic products/ingredients? Well I sure didn’t… They can contain dioxins from the bleaching process, pesticide and herbicide residues, synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, and dyes. However, Veeda products are made from hypoallergenic, 100% natural cotton and have no chemicals, no synthetics, and no dyes. As a result, Veeda tampons reduce the risk of toxic shock syndrome (TSS), irritation, and allergic reactions. I must admit I never even imagined that our feminine care products had any sort of chemicals in it; but this has really been an eye-opener for me after learning that our conventional tampons and pads from well-known brands are often made from blends of bleached cotton and/or synthetic products but Veeda products are made from hypoallergenic cotton with no synthetics, no chemicals, and no dyes which helps to avoid irritation and lower the risk of toxic reactions.
After trying Veeda feminine products*, mainly the sanitary pads, I have to say I was pleased that they did not irritate my skin like other brands in the past and happy to find a brand that reduces the risk of reactions and irritations. They felt very comfortable and secure, had a comparable absorption level, and stayed in place due to their wide adhesive strip. Veeda Pads are engineered for maximum absorption and unparalleled comfort.
Overall I was very happy with the Veeda products and this is something I will definitely continue to use in the future because as women, it is important to make wise and inform choices when it comes to our health and wellbeing, especially as a Mom of two little girls. It is important to raise awareness to such things as Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) and it feels really good to be well informed, especially after learning how harmful our usual tampons and pads can be. Veeda will be launching in Canada very soon but for now, Veeda products are available directly through their website.
What do you think about switching to more natural feminine products?
