4 Weird Myths And Misconceptions About Weddings

Are you getting ready to plan your perfect wedding? If so, then it’s important to avoid some of the more common myths and misconceptions that can plague this special day. Here are just a few that we do recommend you keep in mind and focus on.

You Can’t Choose Your Engagement Ring

You might think that you don’t have any power over what your engagement ring looks like. However, this isn’t the case at all. A lot of people these days will choose their engagement ring. The reason for this is that it’s a piece of jewelry that you will be wearing for potentially the rest of your life. You need to make sure that you are happy with it and that it looks terrific on your finger. Part of this is ensuring that you get the right diamond which you can guarantee by looking at things like a James Allen review. They are well known for providing the perfect high-quality diamonds for wedding rings.

Bridesmaids Must Look Ugly Or Plain

Another myth is that you should choose bridesmaid dresses that look dull, ugly, or awful. This idea has largely shown up in Hollywood movies like 27 Dresses. You certainly don’t want bridesmaid dresses to overshine the wedding dress. However, there’s no reason to torture your bridesmaids with awful dresses. Instead, it’s better to put some effort into ensuring their dresses look great. If you take this step, then you’ll be able to make sure that your wedding photos look terrific. After all, these are going to be the ladies who are standing next to you in the photos that you will look back on for years.

The Party Should Be On The Night Before

Another misconception is that you need to plan the bachelor and bachelorette party the night before. This isn’t the case at all. Instead, it’s quite common for people to choose to have these parties at least a couple of weeks before the wedding. The benefit of doing this is that all the crazy events have been forgotten by the time you say ‘I do.’ There’s also no chance that you oversleep and show up to your wedding looking far worse for wear.

Parents Pay The Price

Finally, this used to be true but it’s certainly not the case anymore. Indeed, the idea of the parents paying for the wedding is outdated. It was usually the parents of the bride paying for the wedding and relates to the original concept of a bride being a father’s property who is passed onto the husband. It’s understandable why this idea has fallen by the wayside. That hasn’t stopped weddings being expensive though. With the exception of 2020 for obvious reasons, the cost of weddings has risen considerably each year for about a decade.

We hope this helps you understand some of the common myths and misconceptions about weddings that you need to avoid when planning and setting up your own special day. If you take the right steps, then you can ensure that your wedding is a terrific event that everyone will enjoy.
