Summer is finally here and we are always looking for ways to minimize our makeup routine while embracing our natural beauty and still glowing (of course while protected). While we certainly enjoy spending time outside basking in the warm sunshine, we also know the importance of making sure our skin is well protected and well moisturized. So here are 5 of my summer essentials for the perfect summer’s day that will help combat sun damage and keep you looking pretty!
1. Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer SPF 15, CAD $9.97
Always apply an SPF moisturizer on your face all year round but especially more so in the summer months. I recently started using this one from Olay and it moisturizing enough for my combination/dry skin and gentle enough for super-sensitive skin and best of all, it doesn’t leave a white cast like many other SPF moisturizers.
2. bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, CAD $36.00
With hot days, I don’t want to load on the makeup but instead looking more natural and glowing is what I want. My go-to for this summer is this tinted gel cream from bareMinerals (review here). It blends in perfectly, even out my skin tone and give skin a healthy-looking glow, while keeping my face feeling light. Bonus is, it has SPF 30 for an extra layer of protection!
3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer, CAD $60.00
This is such a beautiful bronzer. There are two shades available, one for fair/light complexions and the other for medium/deep complexions. I have Luminous Bronze Light (review here), and it gives a beautiful sun-kissed glow that looks natural and healthy. These bronzers will create depth and dimension to the face leaving you with such a pretty glow, but not shiny.
*Tip: Don’t over contour with your bronzer because the sunlight will make those lines look more severe and unnatural. Stick to just bronzing the areas that the sun would naturally touch your face.
4. Marc Jacobs Aviator Sunglasses, US $250.00
I purchased these sunglasses last summer and they are my favorite pair. I love that they fit just right and are very comfortable to wear. They are classic, and won’t go out of style and best of all, they protect your eyes from the sun.
5. Maybelline Rebel Bloom Colorsensational Lipstick, CAD $7.96
I love these lipsticks from Maybelline and my favorite color is Blushing Bud (review here). One swipe of this is sure to make your lips ready for summer fun. This is a nice mid-toned blushing pink shade that just works with any eye look and is so easy to wear, comfortable, and leaves a stain behind on the lips so it lasts longer. Just perfect for summer!
