Hourglass has just expanded their Ambient line and has launched their latest addition to the family with the Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders; a collection of illuminating strobing powders (highlighters) designed to sculpt the face with light, creating depth and dimension for a refined, natural-looking highlight.
There are four universally flattering shades of the Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders which includes:
• Iridescent Strobe Light: Illuminating pink powder imparting a soft highlight.
• Incandescent Strobe Light: Opalescent pearl powder bestowing a celestial highlight.
• Euphoric Strobe Light: Pearlescent beige powder bestowing a natural highlight.
• Brilliant Strobe Light: Shimmering gold powder imparting a lustrous highlight.
One of these strobe powders “Incandescent Strobe Light” was first introduced in the Ambient Lighting Palette so if you have this palette and you haven’t hit pan on it yet, then you may want to pass on this shade. I picked up Euphoric Strobe Light and Brilliant Strobe Light and have been playing with these two shades. They are the same size as the Ambient Lighting Blushes, except silver and have a nice, large mirror inside.
A look at size comparisons:
According to Hourglass, these are formulated in a sheer base that’s infused with concentrated, ultra-fine mico-pearl particles in a number of sizes and refraction levels for natural-looking luminescence—without leaving a heavy metallic finish. Developed with Photoluminescent Technology it captures, diffuses, and softens surrounding light to refine the appearance of the skin. These can be used wet or dry for different levels of intensity, taking you from an everyday strobe highlight to a dramatic evening strobe highlight.
Euphoric Strobe Light is a light-medium peach with warm beige undertone and a luminous sheen and the darkest of the four shades, while Brilliant Strobe Light is a pale light yellow/gold with a shimmer-sheen finish. The texture of the powders were soft, silky, and finely milled. They glide on the skin beautifully and evenly with little powder kicked up. They add a beautiful natural glow to your skin. On me, they wore quite well for about seven hours. I am so happy I decided to go with these two shades because Brilliant Strobe Light brightens and looks amazing on my medium/olive complexion and gives the most beautiful lit from within glow, while Euphoric looks natural and pretty. These are more natural subtle highlighters so if you are more into the natural type of highlight, these powders are really pretty and you might like them. I find that you get more color payoff from Euphoric over Brilliant but they are buildable to be a little more noticeable. As long as you’re not expecting a crazy highlight, then you’re going to love these.
Hourglass created the Ambient Strobe Light Sculptor to apply them with, but I just used a highlighter brush and it works just fine.
The HOURGLASS Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders are permanent and retails for CAD $48.00 / US $38.00 at Sephora.
