MAC recently launched five new shades from the Prep + Prime Highlighters that is now part of their permanent line. I have never tried any of the old shades of the Prep + Prime Highlighters so I was excited to try one of the new shades since I’ve heard great things about them.
MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter (CAD $31.00 / US $26.00 for 0.12 fl. oz.) is a pen-style highlighter that efficiently brings a soft, sheer wash of colour to the skin. With its precision application, MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter adds radiance just where you want it. Goes on smoothly for cushion-soft wear. Use over makeup for highlights, touch-ups or under makeup to brighten and prime. The 5 new shades are:
Light – pale ivory
Medium – warm beige
Medium Plus – tan beige
Dark – deep caramel
Dark Deep – rich golden bronze
I picked up the shade Medium Plus for my medium/olive complexion which works very well on my skin tone. Personally, I don’t like a very bright highlight under my eyes so this shade works perfectly for under eye brightening and also adding a subtle highlight on the high points of my face. The formula is light, feels creamy and blends really nicely on to the skin so the product is great for layering over your concealer or corrector. It is also great to use under makeup to brighten and prime. The Medium Plus shade has slight peachy undertones so it works great for brightening. These can help correct and brighten but they won’t necessarily conceal on their own. These do not have any shimmer in them which is great since you’re using these to brighten up the under eye area and you do not want any noticeable shimmer or sparkle in that area. They just illuminate the skin in a subtle way and helps to brighten any complexion! It was not drying and it wore really well for me and I didn’t notice any fading or creasing over 6 hours of wear.
The Prep + Prime Highlighters come in a click brush pen that takes several initial twists to release the product, but after that, you should only need a couple clicks to dispense the product. Once I apply the product onto the skin, I usually go ahead and blend with a beauty sponge or fingers.
Have you tried any of the new shades as yet?
