While I’m a huge fan of Korean skincare, I’ve never actually tried Taiwanese skincare before. I first came across the Naruko brand on Shireen’s blog (go say hi here) and even won a couple of their sheet masks in her giveaway. So when Naruko Canada contacted me for a collaboration, I jumped at the chance to dabble into the world of Taiwanese beauty. Naruko is a Taiwanese beauty brand that is apparently very popular in the Asian beauty market. I’ve been testing a few of their skincare products over the last couple months but today I want to start the review with this Miracle Essence. I have sensitive skin around my nose and chin and very sensitive eyes but didn’t experience any irritation or break outs from the product.
This is my first real experience venturing into Asian essence so I want to give you a little info on this essence (from the Naruko Canada website):
Combining the gentleness and pureness of eastern herbal essence together with the relaxing effect of western herbal aromatherapy ingredients, this essence booster revitalizes skin, removes dullness, prevents melanin production and lightens spots. It improves the protection capacity of the skin to make it healthy and bright, and also creates the perfect skin condition for better absorption for the next step of skin care. Formulated WITHOUT: Parabens and Sulfates.
Naruko Face Renewal Miracle Essence is called First Treatment Essence (FTE) and contains Highest Concentration 94.9% of Yeast Extracts From Organic Fermented Rice. Main ingredients are: Ystract, Yeast Extract and Actuat E60.
When it comes to essence or softening lotions I have to say that I’m usually pretty unsure of their purpose and what they’re supposed to do but when I heard Shireen raved about this, I just had to see what the fuss was all about… The essence comes in a nicely weighted frosted glass bottle with a silver cap and looks very chic and luxe.
So just a little background on my skin before I get into the performance of the essence. My skin type is combination/dry and dehydrated. I have minimal fine lines (mostly under my eyes), hyper-pigmentation from acne scarring and sun damage, and I do get redness around my nose and mouth area sometimes.
This essence goes on light, and doesn’t feel cloying or oily. It softens the skin without feeling heavy or leaving a film on the skin like some essence or serums can. It’s watery but not too runny so it’s easy to apply. It does make my serum/moisturizer absorb into the skin better. Even though I love very nourishing skincare products, I also do not like things that feel heavy on the skin so I absolutely love this. It has helped prep the skin to absorb serums and moisturizers better and also keeps it well hydrated without being too heavy throughout the day. After cleansing the skin, I apply a small amount of the product using pressing motions. After that I continue with my regular skincare routine.
This has help improve texture and softness of my skin overtime so don’t look for instant or immediate results with this and it’s not a miracle product either. However, the more I continue to use, the more I can say my skin feels softer, more hydrated and I swear pore size looks smaller but that can also be a combination of other things I’m using. I haven’t noticed that it has lighten my sun or acne spots, but those spots didn’t happen overnight either. It does provide moisture and prevent dryness though. I would day this essence is more so a booster and provide an instant shot of hydration and nutrients to your skin and prep your skin to accept your other skincare products.
If you’ve been wanting to venture out into the world of essence and unsure where to start, then I recommend trying the Naruko Jing Cheng Face Renewal Miracle Essence. It will freshens, hydrates and brighten the skin tone and now that it’s summer and it is so lightweight, it’s a great addition to your skincare routine. It’s an extra step in my skincare routine that I’ve really been enjoying. This retails for CAD $94.00/150mL
