Hello from the sunny island of Barbados lovelies!! Currently on a vacation getaway (again) with the family for my 10 year wedding anniversary. I have a few posts already scheduled to be published while I enjoy the week under the sun so this is the first! The weather is absolutely beautiful here and I will be heading off to the beach in the next hour or so. I will try to share some travel pics (maybe do a travel post) while I’ here. Ok, so let’s get into the post for today!!!
As a foundation junkie, I am forever searching for the “perfect foundation”. Not sure if I have actually found it as yet, but there are a few that I absolutely love. When I tested a sample of the Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation a few months ago, it has been on my radar ever since; so while I was in Sephora a couple months ago, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to pick it up.
The foundation was launched earlier this year and is supposed to blur and perfect to reflect your perfect skintone, for light, buildable coverage and a radiant finish. It comes in a beautiful frosted glass bottle with a dropper; so when you twist it, a button pops up in the middle, and pressing it dispenses the product from the dropper.
As much as I love glowy luminous foundations, some can be a hit or miss for me because I do have combination/dry skin and funny enough, I can get oily in the T-zone as well so I can look a bit greasy too if I’m not careful. This foundation is a thin, serum-like foundation with a watery consistency. The finish is dewy and makes my skin look glowing, smooth and poreless. It offers a great medium coverage that really blurs imperfections and it doesn’t feel cakey at all. It’s super comfortable to wear. Medium is my perfect match but I still do need concealer for dark spots as this is on the sheerer side and it definitely doesn’t cover everything. This really is a beautiful foundation that makes skin look radiant and fresh and you will love it especially if you like dewy finishes. I absolutely love the luminosity it gives and I love that it doesn’t cling to any dry areas of my face. I shared my love for this foundation in my August favorites!
I’ve tried this with a few different primers and powders and it works with many different ones without a problem but my favorite way, where the finish is glowy but not greasy, is when I start with a pore-blurring primer underneath like the Make Up For Ever Smoothing Primer or the L’Oreal Miracle Blur. I also like the finish with the YSL Blur primer. Because it is already such a dewy foundation, I do not use it with any luminous primers. I also set the foundation with a powder because although I’m dry and I love a dewy look, the finish can look oily especially if you’re already on the oily side. I just dust powder where I really need it, as opposed to all over. Finally, I’m not sure how well it will work for oily skin, so you may need to use this foundation with a mattifying primer and finish with a finishing powder.
Have you tried the Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation? Which is your favourite formula of foundation to wear? You can find it for US $38.00 / CAD $53.00 at Sephora.
