There are millions of Black-owned businesses in Canada and the United States. Over the past few years, we have showcased many Black-owned brands and products as well as some entrepreneurs here on Face to Curls.
The last few years have ushered in a whole new standard of diversity and inclusivity within the beauty industry in what many call the Fenty effect. Thanks to Rihanna, she pushed the boundaries of inclusivity in beauty. Black people are often not recognized in the same way for creating certain trends and often do not profit financially from them. This is why it’s so important to support Black businesses and the creatives who are actually setting these trends.
Every day should be an opportunity to celebrate Black culture. So, this Black History Month, we want to highlight some of our favorite Black-owned beauty brands— to support. While there are so many black-owned beauty brands out there, I have only highlighted 10 here.

Tisha Thompson, founder and CEO of LYS Beauty, is a former makeup artist and a 20-year veteran in the beauty space and is on a personal mission to diversify the clean beauty industry. LYS Beauty offers makeup products for the face, eyes and lips in various shades and formulas.
