I was ecstatic when I received a box from Demeter Fragrance Library to introduce their Foolproof Blending Trios. In case you’ve never heard of them, Demeter was conceived in the East Village of New York City in 1996 with the original mission to capture the beautiful smells of the garden and nature in wearable form. They have over 250 different fragrances for every scent imaginable and the line is quite impressive. Demeter scents are meant to be worn alone or blend together to design your own personal scent.
The scent I selected was Vanilla because it is by far my favorite scent and even today, after 12 years, my husband tells me “I remember the first time I met you, you smelled like vanilla.” Awwwww! That still melts my heart when he tells me that. It’s simply the most classic and well-loved of modern fragrance notes. For the Demeter Foolproof Blending and #CBBFoolproofBlend campaign, I received five fragrances and an empty bottle to mix your signature scent. There were also some scent stripes, a funnel and several droppers so I could be my own chemist. The Demeter Fragrance Library Vanilla Foolproof Blending Trio ($45.00) contains three vanilla scents: Hawaiian Vanilla (Floral), Angel Food (Sweet) and Gingerbread (Spicy). Inside the Foolproof Blending Duo Box ($35.00), there are two fragrances: Clean Skin and Sunshine.

Everything was very easy to use and the blending pyramid on the package really helped me understand how perfume notes really work, because honestly, I had no idea. Of course, my favorite scent from the bunch was the Hawaiian Vanilla, then I really love Clean Skin and Sunshine. It was really a lot of fun playing with all these scents (even my two girls got in on the fun) and I was feeling like a bit of a chemist creating my very own scent which I call “Beach Waves” (again, thanks to the help of my two little girls), which is a blend of Clean Skin and Sunshine with a splash of Hawaiian Vanilla and smells florally fresh and beachy. Remember, there are NO rules.
