Brand Overview – ‘Essence Cosmetics’

Essence Cosmetics-Brand Overview001I have being eyeing this brand for a while now every time I walk into Shoppers Drug Mart. I have tried a few of their nail polishes and lip glosses last summer and really enjoyed them a lot. ‘Essence’ is apparently a German cosmetics brand and all their products are rather affordable. I decided to try a few of their other makeup and a couple had ‘new’ on them so I thought I would test them out and share my thoughts with you guys!

Essence Silky Touch Blush in Autumn Peach-Brand Overview-Essence Cosmetics002Essence Silky Touch Blush in Autumn Peach (CAD $3.49): I would describe this as a beautiful golden peach shade with warm undertones. It has a satin finish with subtle shimmer and pigmentation is fairly decent. It gives a beautiful peachy glow to the cheeks. It has a smooth, soft silky feel and wasn’t too powdery, especially for the price point. I absolutely love peach blushes so this is perfect! It comes in a clear plastic compact with no brush or mirror. It wore fairly well for about 5 hours before fading.

Essence Lip Liners in Cute Pink-Wish Me A Rose-Brand Overview-Essence Cosmetics003

Essence Lip Liners in Cute Pink-Wish Me A Rose-Brand Overview-Essence Cosmetics004Essence Lip Liners in Cute Pink & Wish Me A Rose (CAD $1.99): Honestly, I’m not much of a lip liner person and I don’t wear them a whole lot but lately I have been incorporating them more into my daily makeup routine. I have been testing out a couple.  Wish Me A Rose is a beautiful dusty nude rose pink with a matte finish and perfect for an everyday wear.  Cute Pink is a natural and subtle pink shade with a matte finish and looks very similar to Wish Me A Rose, but is a tad bit darker.

These lip liners really impressed me. They define the lips and make them appear fuller and plumper. The colors I have are gorgeous with beautiful pigmentation and the formula is super soft and creamy and they glide on smoothly without tugging on the lips; however, like all lip liner/lipstick application, you’re going to have to prep your lips and exfoliate and/or moisturize them before applying these. If lips are properly prep, they will feel really comfortable on and will not dry out your lips or accentuate imperfections. These last about 3-4 hours on me with eating and drinking.

Essence All About Cupcake Lipstick-Brand Overview-Essence Cosmetics005Essence’s All About Cupcake Lipstick (CAD $2.99) is a muted mid-toned medium pink without shimmers. It has a creamy, soft and smooth texture that glides onto the lips with ease and I would say it is a sheer moisturizing lipstick with a glossy sheen. It reminds me a lot of the Revlon Lip Butters and because of the moisturizing properties, it is great for dry lips. It gives your lips a healthy and natural bright flush. It has really good color pay off, but if you have pigmented lips, you may need to swipe a few times to get the desire effect. It lasted about 2-3 hours on me before fading; could be because of the glossy consistency.

  1. Awesome. I have been wanting to do an Essence haul since their products seem so cute and affordable 🙂 The section at Ulta is pretty nice.
