Paula’s Choice recently launched two new skincare to help renew, and improve the appearance of skin’s overall tone and texture. These are skincare products that can be easily incorporated into your existing skincare routines.
I have been having a little play time with these goodies over the last few months but it has been so crazy busy with the holidays just around the corner (Aah!) that I hadn’t gotten around to reviewing them until now.
RESIST Brightening Essence (US $42) – A lightweight fluid that combines the brightening power of arbutin with a unique mix of research-proven ingredients – acetyl glucosamine, vitamin C, and plant extracts – to instantly boost skin’s radiance and revitalize the complexion.
This is supposed to be applied after toning and before your serums and moisturizers. It is a very lightweight essence and have the consistency of water and absorbs instantaneously into the skin. I think it’s always such a tricky thing to recommend skincare products to others because we all have different skin types and even if I’m dry and you’re dry, it doesn’t necessarily mean a product that works for me may work the same way for you and vice versa. However, this is a great hydration booster that feels very soothing on the skin. It really brightens and evens out my skin tone. This product is very gentle on my sometimes sensitive skin and one that I would recommend giving a try!
RESIST Radiance Renewal Mask (US $36) – This overnight mask provides light hydration with a gel-like texture. Proven skin-brightening ingredients – niacinamide, uva-ursi leaf, and arbutin – work quickly to revitalize a dull complexion and promote a more even-looking skin-tone.
This is a leave-on mask that is best suited to be use overnight and applies very much like a moisturizer. I was surprised that it had such a thin consistency for an overnight face mask but the description says it provides a ‘light hydration with a gel-like texture’ and that is very true. Because of this, I sometimes add a few drops of facial oil (you can use your own) to give me an extra boost of hydration. I didn’t find that it took a long time for it to absorb into the skin but it will not leave a greasy mess on your silk pillows.
This comes in a nice pump bottle that dispenses the product but be a little careful because I find one full pump is a lot for just my face. A half a pump will be more than enough.
I have combination/dry skin and it can get flaky during the colder months so honestly, while this is a wonderful overnight face mask, it is not as hydrating alone for me to use and that is why I add a couple drops of facial oil to it or I will also apply my facial oil over this. You can also put this over your night cream if you are really dry, which I sometimes do. For oily or just combo skin, I think this should be enough hydration for your skin. I didn’t see any brightening effect with this one but it is a very nice overnight mask that helps to even my skin tone and make it look a little plumper the next morning.
My favorite of the two items is the Brightening Essence and the one I would definitely repurchase. Both of these are now available at Paula’s Choice online.
Have you guys tried anything from Paula’s Choice?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the brand and products you’ve tried.
