This summer 2017, Burberry has released their Limited Edition First Love Palette Blush Highlighter, a combined blush and highlighter palette for creating a fresh and luminous rosy-cheek effect. Housed in the brand’s gunmetal packaging with the iconic plaid pattern cover, a velour pouch for protection, their natural-bristled brush, the compact also has their usual magnetic closure.
Inspired by playful prints and fabrics from Burberry’s womenswear collections, the limited-edition blush is set within a bold heart-print design fusing bright, matte pink shades with a softer pastel hue. The palette is infused with illuminating pearls to add subtle highlights to cheeks. Easy to blend and build, the two shades can be applied together for a customisable finish.
As with many Burberry makeup, as you open the compact, you will be hit with a lovely fragrance; but those that are very sensitive to strong scent should be warned although it doesn’t linger after application.
The texture of the power is really beautiful. I wouldn’t say it’s very pigmented but it is not necessarily sheer either; however you can definitely sheer it out to your desired taste and it has a satin sheen. It feels soft and is finely milled, and blends beautifully on the skin. It gives a beautiful fresh peachy pink flush on the cheeks and lasted for about 7.5 hours on me before fading. I personally swirl the two shades together to create a luminous blush shade as you can see in the above swatch (far right). I’ve really been enjoying wearing this blush/highlighter duo for a sheer out wash of color on the cheeks. If you’re a fan of Burberry makeup, this is very nice to add to your collection but it’s not a must-have by any means.
