CHANEL releases an illuminating powder each spring and this spring, it is the Chanel Perles et Fantaisies Illuminating Powder (CAD $76.00). This exclusive palette lights up the complexion with delicate pink and luminous white shades. It is embossed with rows of pearls in the iconic black compact case.
By draping strings of pearls around her neck, Coco Chanel bathed her face in a halo of light. Inspired by this, CHANEL has created the limited edition Perles et Fantaisies Palette, a collection of shimmering colours to light up the face.
Chanel Perles et Fantaisies Illuminating Powder is a two-tone illuminator with finely milled powder that is just stunning. The white shade is on the cooler side with a beautiful frosty sheen that isn’t metallic, while the pink shade is softer and lighter, also of a cool undertone with a luminous sheen. The texture of the powder feels smooth and soft. The finish is really stunning! The white shade is more pigmented, while the pink shade is on the much sheerer side. Likely because of my medium/olive skin tone, I had to really dip my brush into the powder, especially the pink shade in order to get a decent color payoff. As with all Chanel powders, these are on the pricey side so it would have been really nice if it was slightly more pigmented and keeping in mind, deeper skin tones.
The powder allows you to illuminate the complexion with the delicate pink shade for a touch of freshness and the white shade illuminate and highlight for a boost of radiance. This is a very subtle powder and it didn’t emphasize pores or fine lines. Combine both colours or apply separately, they wore well for almost eight hours on me. In terms of comparison for the pink shade; Dior Glowing Gardens Illuminating Powder in Glowing Pink is warmer and more metallic, more shimmery. Do you need this? Yes, if you’re a beauty junkie/collector and a Chanel fan.
The Perles Et Fantasies illuminating powder is now available at The Bay, Holt Renfrew and Chanel’s website/counters if you want to pick it up.
