PARTY READY REDS
Like I’ve mentioned on my blog, I rarely wear red lipsticks but this past Fall I‘ve been trying to step out of my comfort zone and try brighter bolder colours. Red lipstick can add a touch of Hollywood glamour or vamp up your look in a second. With only 3 days away, I am officially counting down Christmas so in the spirit of the season, I thought I’d put together my favourite red lip shades. Red can be a tough shade to wear, so making the right choice between burgundy tones, orange brights and classic pillar box reds is pretty important. Whether you’re going bare-faced with a pop of colour, red lipstick and soft smoky eye look or finishing a fully made-up look, red lipsticks are one image-transforming tool that every girl should have in her purse.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in Dashing is a very cherry red shade with cool undertone. These lipsticks are definitely rich, velvety creams with a satin finish. It has a creamy, rich texture that glides on beautifully with full-coverage color. The formula adheres well to the lips and hugs them so even after the initial color fades a little, your lips are still left with a significant amount of color.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso is described as a true red shade. This creamy, full-coverage lip color is applied with a doe-foot applicator and set to a completely matte finish. If you’re looking for a perfect blue based red to give the appearance of whiter teeth, then this is it. It is a classic bright red shade that is wearable all year long and perfect on Christmas day.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella is a scarlet red shade. These provide a matte, creamy finish that will not dry the lips as they are enriched with emollients, vitamin E, and silicone, that glides on easily and stays put. Really love this formula.
Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in 742 Joli Rouge* is a beautiful bright cherry red with a subtle satin finish. The satin finish is comfortable to apply and doesn’t dry out your lips. These Joli Rouge lipstciks have a silky smooth formula that is incredibly creamy, hydrating, and pigmented.
H&M Cream Lip Colour in Candy Apple* is a bright orange red lipstick with a glossy shine. The lipstick is rich and creamy with medium coverage. It sits comfortably on the lips and does not emphasize fine lines.
