I always look forward to the launch of the new Dior Fall collection! This fall, DIOR gets inspired by Parisian architecture, the Eiffel Tower and brings a beautiful collection of eyeshadow palettes, contour/highlighter sticks, lipsticks, nail polishes and more for Fall 2016; appropriately named Skyline. The entire collection is classy, modern, and incredibly gorgeous. I have two pieces from the collection I will share today!
Dior 806 Capital of Lights which is part of the Dior 5 Couleurs Palette range. For Fall, there are two variations but I only picked up this one, which is the warmer of the two palettes. 806 Capital of Light contains a stunning taupe, ivory, beige with a soft pink in the centre and a deep plum. Such a stunning mix of hues!! It has the most intricate and beautiful embossments and the pattern is reminiscent of the architectural structure of the Eiffel Tower and it is so delicate. Honestly, I was a little hesitant to dip my brush into such a beauty because I didn’t want to ruin the design!
The shades are beautiful and the texture is smooth and feels ever so slightly creamy. Pigment is decent, with no frost or glitter, just gentle shimmers and a satin feel which makes it perfect for everyday wear as well. They applied very smoothly on the eyes and though not intensely pigmented, they have good colour payoff. I do recommend an eyeshadow primer with these shades to maximize colour payoff and performance. I was told by the sales associate that if I want to intensify the colors, then I can apply them with a slightly damp brush but I haven’t done this as yet (I’ve only worn them dry). I think this is a great neutral palette with a pop of fun color for Fall and would work well on a variety of skin tones.
Diorblush Light & Contour Sculpting Stick Duo
There are three shades available with a different color of shimmery highlighter and contour cream which has no shimmer. I love the round tip end which makes it easy to glide along the face. I have the shade 002 Medium Contour which is a perfect colour and suits my skintone very well. The contour shade is on the warm side but works perfect for my skintone. It’s a beautiful creamy formula (that feels slightly powdery on blending) that blends out beautifully and is natural looking without being too dewy. I’d recommend using a light hand to apply, especially if you are a novice at contouring like I am. In terms of application I apply these on the face after foundation and powder directly from the tube and then either blend with fingers, a sponge or a duo fiber brush, which works perfectly for cream products.
This is a beautiful collection! The Dior Autumn 2016 Skyline Makeup collection is available now at The Bay and Dior.com.
Have you picked up anything from the Skyline collection?
