GETTING YOUR WARDROBE ORGANIZED FOR SUMMER

GETTING YOUR WARDROBE ORGANIZED FOR SUMMER

Isn’t a new season exciting? It’s the perfect excuse to invest in some new fashion trends, while also rediscovering your favorite seasonal pieces.

While a new season can be an exciting time, it can also be a stressful one if your closet is in a mess. The summer season calls for a good clear-out so that you can build your summer outfits easily.

Get your wardrobe organized for summer with these top tips:

Get rid of the things you no longer want

It’s easy for a closet to overflow, but after months of stuffing clothes into it – it can become difficult to see what’s actually in there. Get everything out and look at each item carefully. If there are items you no longer like, don’t fit or you haven’t worn in over a year – consider getting rid of them. You can find some excellent recycling programs to help you recycle your clothing, or you can give them to goodwill. Selling them on Depop or eBay is another great option if you want to make some money from your unwanted items.

Put your out-of-season clothes in storage

To help you see what’s in your closet, you’re going to need to temporarily remove things that are out of season. If you don’t have anywhere to pack our clothes away at home, consider getting a storage unit. A simple search for ‘buy a storage unit near me’ will help you find a local unit where you can rent or purchase a unit. Keeping your unwanted clothes out of the way will help you to keep your closet neat to help you put outfits together easily.

Invest in seasonal staples

While there are some fantastic trends to look out for this summer, you will want to choose which ones you invest in carefully. A rule many fashionistas live by is to build a capsule wardrobe, helping you to look stylish day to day while also incorporating some of the latest trends. Footwear, outerwear and accessories make excellent items to change from season to season to keep your look current and on-trend. You’ll get much more value out of items you know can be worn year after year, so try not to spend too much money on trends that will fizzle out in a couple of months’ time.

Organize by color

There are so many great ways to organize your wardrobe, but organizing it by color is one of the easiest. Color-coordinating your wardrobe makes it easier for you to find the pieces you’re looking for, and will also help you put together outfits easily. It’s also pleasing to look at – which is no bad thing! Organize your color from lightest to darkest, avoiding putting your whites next to denim and other bright colors that might transfer!

Now is as good a time as any to get your wardrobe summer-ready, making sure you’re covered for the new season. Spend time organizing your closet and getting rid of your unwanted clothing to make room for this season’s stylish new trends.
