I must have a serious weakness for highlighters why I took it upon myself to once again purchase another highlighter palette as if I don’t have enough in my collection to keep me glowing for the next 100 years….haha. I have always wanted to try Laura Mercier’s highlighters and don’t have any in my collection. I own her Artist’s Palette for Eyes & Cheeks (reviewed here), her Translucent Loose Setting Powder (reviewed here), two of her Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalms (reviewed here), as well as a deluxe size of her Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight 01 that I love so much!
The Fall in Love Illuminator Palette (CAD $70 / US $58) comes in a leopard-print plastic compact that’s really chic yet simple. There’s no writing or logos on the front but on the back you’ll find the shade names with the weight. They have the same swirled, raised design, but everything is just smaller.
The palette housed four of Laura’s illuminators at 0.11 oz each. The full-sized versions retails for US $44 / CAD $53 each for 0.35 oz of product. For me, this is a great bang for your buck, since the singles are pricey, and the amount in each pan is more than enough to last me a lifetime since I will probably never hit pan on them with all the other highlighters I have.
In the palette there is:
Indiscretion – Warm rose gold highlight
Addiction – Gilded Gold Highlight
Devotion – Cool Highlight
Seduction – Soft Bronze Highlight
From the swatches below, I think that Indiscretion and Devotion would work perfectly for fair to medium skin tones while Addiction and Seduction would best fit medium to dark skin tones. The two that best works for my medium olive skin tone are Indiscretion and Seduction. I just love the way they look on my skin. I love using Devotion on my eyes, so so pretty. I will also mix it with Indiscretion for my cheeks, oh so beautiful. I also enjoy mixing Addiction and Seduction as together they really give such a pretty glow and I find them more wearable on my cheeks instead of just either one by itself.
As I don’t own any of the full size versions, I can’t say whether or not these are of the same texture or color but from what I’ve read, they are. These are incredible pigmented and the texture of these are smooth, soft, blendable. The shimmer is highly visible but it’s not quite as frosty. It was easy to diffuse the color along the cheek bones, and the more shimmery nature didn’t emphasize my pores. Of all four shades, Seduction had the most metallic sheen when applied, so if pore emphasis is a big concern, you might want to be careful with this one. Lasting power is quite good and lasted on me for about 8 hours.
These are a more obvious highlighter, so if you prefer something subtle, I would recommend using a small feathery brush and a lighter hand. I love layering and playing with these shades to create a new glow each time and I also enjoy wearing these under blushes, as a highlight for the eyes or all over lid colour. If you do not own any of these highlighters, then I think this is a great way to try all four shades from her highlighter collection; if you love to glow of course 🙂
