Holiday collections have launched early this year and today’s look at holiday beauty focuses on the new Laura Mercier Nights Out Eyeshadow Palette for Holiday 2018. It is a stunning palette and the Nights Out Eyeshadow Palette is actually one of two palettes that launched; the other is the cooler Hidden Gems Eyeshadow Palette.
Laura Mercier Nights Out Eyeshadow Palette is a limited edition eyeshadow palette featuring 12 universally flattering shades ranging from light to dark and cool to warm tones. The mirrored palette features matte and sateen-shimmer eyeshadow shades that can take eyes from neutral day to sultry night. I am beyond thrilled to be able to test this one out and it does not disappoint. It’s quite pretty and on the warmer side so if you don’t like that, this will definitely not be for you and I’d recommend you check out her Hidden Gems Eyeshadow Palette instead. I consider myself to be a conservative shadow wearer but indulge in some colors every now and then.
The Nights Out Eyeshadow Palette has 12 eyeshadows that have a variety of textures. The formulas are really good in terms of color payoff and ease of blending. Some apply better with fingers in a patting motion. Others work better with a brush.
The colors in the palette include:
Top: Bone (light nude beige), Night Violet (pale burgundy), Pink Pulse (beige pink), Stardust (light blue), Sequin (deep green), Black Frost (black)
Bottom: Neo Nude (nude beige), Plum Frost (deep maroon), Amber Glow (orange gold), Gilded (gold), Skyline (navy blue), Voodoo (dark grey)
2 Mattes: Bone, Neo Nude
1 Eye Shine: Voodoo
9 Shimmer: Night Violet, Pink Pulse, Stardust, Sequin, Black Frost, Plum Frost, Amber Glow, Gilded, Skyline
Laura Mercier’s tip: lighter, brighter, and shimmer shades pull a feature forward. Darker, matte shades recede features.
Pigment and texture wise the palette performs well. The four darker colors to the right are not colors I normally wear but these ones are wearable and has excellent color payoff. My favorites are Night Violet, Pink Pulse and Amber Glow. Sequin is a real stunner and it surprised me as I’m not a teal/green shadow wearer but when I wear it all over the lid, it looks beautiful. The mattes are very easy to blend and are very smooth. Neo Nude is a gorgeous transition shade that I love personally. The mattes did not swatch well on my arm but on the eyes with a brush they performed just fine. They blend just fine on the eyes. All the shimmer shades are beautiful and smooth and very easy to blend as well with the exception of Plum Frost and Skyline which felt a little on the drier side. There was a little bit of fall out when you apply Plum Frost while Stardust, Sequin, Amber Glow, Skyline and even Plum Frost are best with patting with fingers. Once on the lids they stay put pretty well. By the late afternoon I only had a tiny bit of fall-out under the eyes.
Overall, this a very gorgeous palette with a lot of pretty colors and shimmers that may not be for everyone but I think it’s worth looking into.
You can find the Laura Mercier Nights Out Eye Shadow Palette at Sephora for CAD $65.00.
Have you tried any of Laura Mercier Eyeshadow palettes? What did you think?
