Making Your Hair Healthy Again After Summer

There are a lot of beauty benefits that come with summer. Sunkissed skin and beachy waves. But chlorine, salty sea water, sun and then all those heated tools you use to calm down the frizz does nothing for the health of your hair. Chlorine can cause discolouration and sea water can be abrasive, not to mention the sun, triggering more damage and breaking down the bonds that keep hair healthy and strong.

That is why your hair need extra love after summer is long over. So, we are sharing with you our hair rescue tips that will fix dry and damaged tresses by bringing life back to hair after summer is long over.

  1. Get a cut or a trim.

When hair is damaged, depending on the severity of it, the damaged ends will probably need to be trimmed. Or, if it’s extremely damaged, a cut might be needed entirely. So cut off all the dry ends and start from scratch with a healthy hair routine.

  1. Detox with a detox shampoo.

Product build-up and hard water minerals will weigh your hair down and keep it from absorbing nutrients.  If your hair is hard, frizzy, feels tacky, or just does not seem to absorb water or products, you need a clarifying treatment as it is really important to remove impurities on the hair to avoid dullness and allow color to absorb evenly.

  1. Reduce how much heat you use.

Heat, generally speaking, isn’t so hot for the hair, especially if your hair is damaged. So, if you have to use heat for whatever reason, make sure that it is on a low setting. The same goes for blow dryers, which should remain on a low setting as well, to keep the hair cuticle from splitting open, especially after all that summer damage.

  1. Use a hair mask.

A hair mask contains high concentrations of reparative and moisturizing ingredients, like vitamins, oils and naturally-sourced elements. They’re also thicker than regular conditioners, so when you apply them to damp hair, they stay put. That gives these formulas time to penetrate more deeply into the hair surface and fill in the gaps and nicks that develop on the surface of damaged hair. Masks keep working even after you rinse them. Treatments are important to maintaining hair health.

  1. Invest in supplements that support healthy hair growth.

Hair vitamins are supplements with purported benefits for hair health. Overall nutrition is the most important factor for hair growth. Taking certain supplements, like vitamins B, C, and D, and iron, or specially formulated hair growth vitamins, may help.
