When it comes to lipsticks, I don’t really tend to go bright or bold and I’m not a huge fan of reds or very deep dark lip colors because figuring out which ones are best for my skin tone and complexion can be a bit much; but when I saw the MARC JACOBS BEAUTY The Sofia – Five Piece Petites Le Marc Lip Crème Collection I just had to pick it up given that I never got around to trying them since they were reformulated. Marc Jacobs The Sofia collection is a selection of five Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crèmes, comprised of the famous designer’s bestselling reds. The Sophia collection lipsticks come in a patent leather pouch, which is designed by Marc Jacobs himself. The colors included are:
– Infamous (soft peony) – Neutral Muted Warm Pink
– So Sofia (electric watermelon) – Bright Coral Red
– Dashing (very cherry) – Red with Cool Undertone
– Blow (dark berry, velvet) – Burgundy, a medium vampy plumy brown
– Boy Gorgeous (berry rouge) – Dark Magenta Red
The Le Marc Lip Crème lipsticks are creamy with a rich texture that glides on beautifully with full-coverage color. They are buttery, glides on like silk, and are super pigmented with a semi-matte and semi-velvety finish. These are all pure crème formulas without any shimmer. They come in a luxurious classic black lacquered tube with a magnetic clasp. They contain antioxidant-rich seaberry, natural humectants, including meranti and cocoa butter and are formulated with concentrated color-boost pigments that are triple-milled and enriched with hydrating ingredients making lips feel hydrated and moisturized.
They are promoted as lasting up to 10 hours with just one swipe. The texture is smooth, rich, and creamy and adheres well and lasted about 6 hours on me. I would recommend prepping with a lip balm prior to wearing these because although creamy, they can also emphasize dry patches. The Le Marc Lip Crèmes are among some of the best lipsticks I’ve tried in a while. My personal favorites of the five are Infamous and Boy Gorgeous. So Sofia is another favorite and a stunning color but would be best suited in the spring/summer time. Overall rating: 4.8/5
