I’m a mascara and blush, and the occasional lipstick addict, so I always want to try the newest mascara in town.
I picked up the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara; and according to Maybelline, this is a “unique, open-fan brush and fresh liquid formula capture and volumize lashes from root to top“. Maybelline says for best results:
1) Use inner curve to reach the roots of lashes
2) Follow through tips of lashes with longer bristles to fan out
The packaging is beautiful and feminine with a pretty metallic blush color tube.
The brush wand is similar to a CoverGirl mascara or even the L’Oreal’s Voluminous Butterfly Mascara. The wand has a nice curve to it and on the inside of the curve it has very short silicone brittles and on the outside of the curve it has very long separated brittles.
The formula is a gel like consistency, not dry or wet either. I got blackest black and it is very black. I have sparse, fine, short lashes and this definitely provides length and some volume. It wasn’t super volumizing but it is very lengthening and it gives a bold effect to your lashes which I like quite a lot. There was no flaking and the wand does an excellent job of separating the lashes very well.
It also separates and coats the bottom lashes very nicely too. I really like this mascara very much. It held up very well without being crispy or brittle. This is definitely a great find. This is not a natural brittle wand and again it has a wetter consistent.
It is super easy to get off which I love. I usually don’t use waterproof mascaras but it wasn’t harder than a typical mascara to get off.
I think the style of the brush definitely helps with the lengthening effect. It coats and brushes out the lashes nicely without tugging. I absolutely love that there is no flaking or smudging but instead you get clump-free lashes.
