New in from ClarinsWhen I was contacted and asked if I’d like to participate in the Sears Canada cosmetics product review and beauty event, I was very excited to participate in this #12Daysofgiving and #Searsbeautyevent. Sears Canada is a longstanding partner of Beauty Gives Back’s Look Good, Feel Better (LGFB), Canada’s only charitable cancer program dedicated to empowering women to manage the effects that cancer and its treatment can have on their appearance. Sears Canada hosts an annual Holiday Beauty Event where funds donated to LGFB from Sears Canada support programs for young women aged 12-18 as part of Sears support of children living with and beyond cancer. This is such a beautiful cause!I was sent a few beauty products to review but today I will be focusing on two items from Clarins, cult favorite, the Beauty Flash Balm and Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick. I haven’t tried too many makeup related things from this brand except for their Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch that I love.Beauty Flash Balm | CAD $50.00
Described as “the ultimate pick-me-up for tired, stressed skin” it helps eliminate signs of fatigue in a flash. Initially, I thought Clarins Beauty Flash Balm was just a primer but since I’ve been using it, I come to realized that it is a very versatile product that can be used in a multitude of ways; such as a primer to prepares skin for perfect makeup application and prolong make-up wear; it can be used alone as a facial moisturizer to instantly moisturizes, brightens, and tightens facial contours so skin looks rested and relaxed; and finally, it can be used as a 10-minute “energy” face mask. Formulated with olive extract, it helps to smooth the skin’s surface, diffusing the appearance of lines and wrinkles while Bisabolol soothes, softens, and helps restore skin’s youthful glow. It has a clean, refreshing scent.
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm acts to brighten, tighten and moisturize intensely, and makeup can be applied straight away to complete the fresh, radiant complexion. It works to hydrates and tightens facial contours — and won’t clog your pores. This is supposed to enhance and give you a dewy look to your skin, while allowing your foundation to adhere better. The Beauty Flash Balm absorbs into the skin without leaving any residue behind. The consistency is thick yet lightweight, almost like a gel consistency that is hydrating and calming on my combination/dry skin. I have used it both as a primer and an over-night face mask only. As a primer, I don’t find it helps to prolong my make-up wear time but what I love is that it deeply hydrates my skin and gives a light plumping effect and also gives my makeup a really smooth finish. I have not seen any tightening results that others have mentioned; however, I have not being using it long enough. I recommend only using a pea-size amount and smooth it onto the skin, but do not rub. As an over-night face mask, it provides an extra boost for hydration. This is great when your skin needs some added brightness and a quick pick me up! It is also a nice base for non-makeup days. I think this is more suitable for normal to dry skin.Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick | CAD $27.00
Clarins Joli Rouge lipsticks have had an upgrade for Autumn/Fall 2015, with 25 new shades from nudes, pinks, reds to deep berry purples recently launched in beautiful luxury shiny gold packaging.
I have the namesake of the collection to review today; 742 Joli Rouge is a beautiful bright cherry red with a subtle satin finish. Though I’m not a big fan of red lipsticks (I rarely wear them, rarely), Joli Rouge has a silky smooth formula that is incredibly creamy, hydrating, and pigmented. Enriched with mango oil and organic salicornia extract, these lipsticks glide on smoothly with glossy pigment that feels intensely moisturizing and provides suppleness and comfort.
A rich and creamy formula that is sheer and lightweight, the colour is easy to build up, and never feels drying to wear instead it feels comfortable and moisturizing as if I’m barely wearing anything on my lips. The moisture-enriched formula leaves a very balm like texture on the lips. Promising six hours of long-lasting colour, the lipsticks are highly-pigmented, moisturizing and so comfortable to wear. However, on me, the formula lasts about two or three hours on my lips, so they aren’t incredibly long lasting. Clarins Joli Rouge 742 is the perfect universal red that will look amazing on all skin complexions.
