Pat McGrath Labs came out with three new MTHRSHP Eyeshadow Palettes for spring. I have been eyeing the Mothership IV Eyeshadow Palette – Decadence but never took the plunge to purchase it or any of the others because they are just so expensive. Needless to say I was very excited when she released three limited-edition MTHRSHP Eyeshadow Palettes. They’re mini versions of the Mothership Palettes that are about a third of the price – US $55 / CAD $70. McGrath calls the new palettes “compact couture”.
These palettes are very travel-friendly than the larger palettes and come in durable cardboard packaging that is pretty cool but to be honest was just slightly bulky yet sturdy. The colors in the palette have names on a removal plastic insert.
MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Ambition
This palette has beautiful warm-toned neutrals with all shimmers and one matte. The shadows have a creamy, soft textures that are smooth and glide on effortlessly. With just one-stroke, you get fully pigmented, opaque color saturation.
Top Shades
Gilt Trip (champagne golden sheen)
Bronze Struck (warm bronze metallic)
Copperized (vivid copper glitz)
Bottom Shades
Illicit (charcoal brown sheen)
Throwing Shade (terra cotta velvet)
Gold Rush (glistening gold shine)
MTHRSHP Subversive La Vie en Rose
This palette has more violets, risqué plums and golds. There is also only one matte shade in this palette. I was disappoint with the swatching of the matte shade but on the eyes it wasn’t too bad, just not as good as the other five in the palette. Don’t be intimidated by the bright loud colors because the La Vie En Rose can be used for more subtle looks as well.
Top Shades
Pale Fire (peachy pink duo chrome)
Purple Reign (vivid purple sheen)
Gold Nectar (peachy gold metallic)
Bottom Shades
Paranormal (deep plum suede)
Rose Risqué (ultra-pink satin)
Euphoria (pink plum frost)
Thoughts: I purchased Bronze Ambition during the Sephora VIB sale and have been using it ever since and the La Vie en Rose and Precision Liquid Liner was sent for review. The shadows look so beautiful in the pans and they are really buttery, smooth and so pigmented. The formula is incredible, and they apply and blend with ease and is quite long-lasting on the lids. I really did not get a lot of fall-out with these shadows. For me Bronze Ambition is more wearable because I love more neutral/warm shades. However, I was really impressed with La Vie en Rose and how great it was to be able to create some subtle looks with it despite the bright colors — it is also a great one for spring and summer. Overall, these palettes are quite amazing and do not disappoint. I am by no means an eyeshadow expert, but I was easily able to create beautiful looks with these two palettes. My favorite of course is Bronze Ambition just because I’m a neutral girl and I found these shades work easier for me overall as I don’t have to give much thought to the look I want to create. Paranormal (matte) shade from the La Vie en Rose palette swatched very patchy and felt dry and Rose Risqué (great transition color ) also felt drier than the others as well but both blended quite well on the lids.
Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner (US $28 / CAD $36)
Pat McGrath Labs also launched their first-ever liquid liner called the Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner. I don’t wear a lot of wing-liner because frankly, I’m pretty bad at achieving a good wing so I’m never too particular with my liners – just as long as they work fine, meaning no pulling or tugging on my lid. I also prefer pencil liners in general because I find that I have better control over them and I get better precision. That being said; this water-proof eyeliner is very pigmented, and is a deep black and surprisingly, it wasn’t hard to use. I like this liner and I find that once it dries down, it doesn’t budge or smear. This Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner has a soft, flexible tip that moves with the contours of your lids and makes creating a sharp flick simple.
You can shop the Mthership Eye Palettes and the Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner online at Pat McGrath Labs and Sephora.
Have you tried any of her palettes as yet? Thoughts?
