Bad skin days sucks and we all have those days at times, especially that time of the month. You know those days when you wake up and you see a pimple here and a pimple there, a dry patch here and there and you’re like “What the Heck?” “How did that happen?” Bad skin days have a tendency to pop up at the worst of times. Whether your skin is looking tired, blah or blemished, here are some of my quick and easy fixes for a bad skin day that help give my complexion a boost when I need it most.
Facial Oil.
Ramp up skin’s radiance with facial oil!. I’m a sucker for a good face oil. I love using them and I especially love adding a few drops in my favorite serum or nighttime moisturizer to give that extra burst of nourishment and hydration to the skin. My favorite at the moment is the Origins High-Potency-Night-A-Mins. This facial oil is deeply replenishing and anti-ageing. It will leave your complexion positively glowing. Also adding a couple drops of oil in your foundation really gives that added hydration especially when your skin is feeling tight or dry. It’s also great for getting rid of those pesky dry patches especially when the temp is dry.
Concealer.
Concealer can be a savoir on bad skin days. In order to get a flawless concealer application, it’s important to make sure your skin is hydrated, not flaky, before you apply concealer. I love the Maybelline Fit Me and NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer as I find these blend really well on my skin and also look more natural. I love that these are creamy and does not emphasize pores, imperfections or look cakey on me and they covers up blemishes really well too. These are also ideal for disguising dark under-eye circles as well as any unwanted redness, and can leave skin with a bit of glow. To brighten up the eyes a bit, I also love the YSL Touche Éclat – Radiant Touch.
Blur Imperfections.
Instead is using a heavy foundation which can appear cakey over blemishes and accentuate fine lines and wrinkles, why not opt for a fresh face look by applying a skin smoother in place of foundation. A skin smoother can help blur the look of imperfections and hydrate your skin too. I love Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. You can also leave this on skin for 10 to 15 minutes to tighten and rehydrate. A skin smoother can help blur the look of imperfections and hydrate your skin too. This balm perks you up instantly, quenching skin and making it seem brighter and tighter, leaving the face soft and smooth.
Face Mask.
Take ten to fifteen minutes to address your specific skin care concern with a face mask. Because I have dryish skin, I love hydrating face mask, especially sheet masks. They’re really amazing! I use a lot of Korean sheet masks and these ones from Sephora are pretty amazing as well. If excess oil and shine is what’s causing your bad skin day, try a face mask that can purify your pores and mattify shine. If your skin is looking dull and drab, try a face mask that can illuminate your lackluster complexion. Though not a face mask, I also swear by these Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal (Original) Daily Peel (my favorite). They do an amazing job of gently buffing and exfoliating the skin, minimizing the appearance of pores, and evening-out my skintone for a radiant complexion.
Ice Water Facial.
Say what now? I actually learned this a few years ago while reading a magazine. From time to time, especially when I’ve had a rough and sleepless night because one of my littles ones not feeling well, or I had a late-night Netflix binge, my skin will lacklustre and look dehydrated; then I will do this. I usually add ice and cucumber slices in a large bowl of water, dunk my face in for 10-15 seconds about 3 times. Very COLD I must say, but it really wake you up, tightens your pores, and makes your skin feel and look smooth. I swear by this!
