Scruples Celebrity Hair Stylist William Whatley’s Must-Know Spring Hair Tips

Revamp, Refresh, RenewSpring is finally here, making it the perfect time to refresh your hair routine. As the seasons change, so do your hair’s needs, and Celebrity Hair Stylist William Whatley, who is Scruples’ Creative Education Director, shares four expert tips to help transition seamlessly into healthier, spring-ready hair.

  1. Color Change: First on the list is to consider a hair color change. Trending spring colors always tend to go lighter and brighter where fall and winter colors usually go darker and richer. This is a great time to go through a consultation with your professional stylist and look at new coloring options to get your hair ready for the newest spring and summer hair color trends. Whatley’s seasonal 2025 hair trends include Champagne Blonde, Honey Cashmere Blonde, Honey Mocha Brunette, Cherry Scarlet Red and Sangria Red.
  2. Correct Winter Hair Damage: Harsh weather during the winter months can be harder on the hair, causing the hair to get a little more brittle and dried out. My second tip is to use a great mask on your hair a few times before spring. This will get your hair ready for any kind of color treatment to help the hair receive the color and last longer. My favorite hair mask is the Scruples Complete Recovery Treatment Masque. This is a must-have at-home treatment to bring your hair back to life. This gets your cuticle layer back in the shape to help create shine as the protein and the amino acids to create strength to stop any breakage that was caused from harsh winter weather.
  3. Change out Products: For spring, I recommend for color-treated hair to switch to Scruples Total Integrity Ultra Rich Shampoo and Conditioner. These products will help get your hair back in shape with all of the amino acids and botanicals that your hair will need to recover from harsh winter months.
  4. At-Home Hot Oil Treatment to Add Shine: For clients seeking to get their hair back into shape and looking shiny and luxurious again for spring, I recommend doing hot oil treatments. Longer hair is a trend and 80 percent of our clients have color-treated hair, hot oil treatments are the way to go. To create an instant hot oil treatment, I recommend the following recipe.

Products Needed:

–Scruples ER Emergency Repair Conditioner

–Scruples Tea Tree Nourishing Oil

Directions: Combine one ounce of Scruples ER Emergency Repair Conditioner with ¼ ounce of Scruples Tea Tree Nourishing Oil. Apply it to clean towel-dried hair and comb the mixture evenly from the roots of your hair to the ends. Cover hair with a plastic cap or if you’re doing this at home, take a moist towel and throw it into the microwave for about 3 minutes. It should be warm, but not too hot, and wrap your warm towel around your head and leave it on for 15 minutes until cool. The final step is to rinse, blow dry and style.
