Tatcha is the latest brand to join the retinol alternative bandwagon with The Silk Serum. A retinol alternative serum that smooths the look of wrinkles, visibly firms, and calms redness for skin that looks smooth as silk.

A wrinkle-smoothing serum with silk, upcycled cranberry extract, and sea fennel that acts like a retinol to visibly firm and smooth the look of deep wrinkles without visible irritation. Unlike vitamin A derivatives, The Silk Serum is made to use up to two times daily with no ramp-up time or sun sensitivity.

The Silk Serum provides the smoothing benefits of retinol and beyond, adding moisture back into the skin and even soothing irritation. To find the hero ingredient, the R&D team at the Tatcha Institute searched high and low, testing efficacy against retinols and known alternatives like bakuchiol. They found the best results with a highly effective duo of plant-based retinol alternatives: upcycled cranberry extract and sea fennel, which act on the same factors as retinol to support natural skin turnover and give the look of collagen-rich skin.

Their scientists tested this Retinol Alternative Duo on human skin cells in-vitro, alongside a stabilized retinol. Their Retinol Alternative Duo was proven to act as well as the stabilized retinol on the same biomarkers which help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and to improve visible firmness.

Clinical results immediately show 100% improvement in skin smoothness and after 2 Weeks: 100% showed a reduction in skin redness and 100% showed improvement in skin texture. After 4 Weeks: 85% showed improvement in the look of lines + wrinkles and 78% showed improvement in firmness in a case study done by the brand with 41 panelists.

The Silk Serum retails for $98 USD / $127 CAD and is available via Tatcha’s website.
