The October Beauty Edit

October has been a whirlwind of a month! We finally gotten around to decorating our home the way we want it to look (well, I would say about 80% but hey that’s a big deal considering the state it was in before) since we moved in this past summer and has stored away the mountain of boxes that was piled up in our dining room. I even threw my older daughter her 8th Birthday party with all of her school friends (hey, you try entertaining a bunch of 3rd graders, plus throw in some 4 and 6 years old in the mix). We’re in November and hubby’s jet-setting off tomorrow on another business trip for a couple months so the girls and I will miss him terrible. While we’re on the month of November, we’ve been getting some decent weather here in Toronto the past few days. Though all of the leaves have fallen off the trees and there has been some crisp air, it’s also relatively warm, but hey, whose complaining. Like I said, I detest the cold so this T-shirt weather is making me happy. Okay, on to the favorites…

Laura Mercier Fall In Love Face Illuminator Palette : I love a good highlighter, and these ones are absolutely amazing! The formula is super pigmented, buttery and gives the perfect glow. Now I know this was a limited edition compact and it’s no longer available; however, all four highlighters in this compact are available in single full size versions in the permanent line. My favorite has to be Indiscretion.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick – Allison : This is my first ABH lipstick and so far I’ve really been enjoying it. The shade is so perfect for fall and I have been wearing it non-stop for the last couple weeks. As it’s a bit drying on the lips, I suggest prepping your lips properly prior to wear. I did a post here about it if you want to hear my full thoughts and see comparison swatches.

YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch* : I was super excited when I got the opportunity to try this little baby out.  This has a lovely, lightweight formula which blends into the skin easily without clinging to any dryness or sinking into fine line. But, as I mentioned in my review, this is definitely not the concealer you would want for coverage but it’s perfect for lightweight touch-up essential. It’s really meant to be used as a highlighter, so I recommend getting a shade lighter than your concealer. It’s also a great midday pick-me-up when your skin is looking tired and dull.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light : An all-around excellent palette with everything you need to create a beautiful look. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light palette is everything you need to finish and brighten your skin. It adds a little colour and dimension with the colours because the powders are so natural looking and offer a multi-dimensional glow that blurs imperfections, corrects redness, and smoothes over the skin for a flawless finish. This is still available on Sephora website.

Benefit Ka-Brow : this is a cream-gel brow colour.  I have very sparse brows and this easily fills, sculpts and defines my brows. The formula is nice and smooth and fills patches perfectly without looking caked on. It is very natural looking and I’ve been loving it!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario : Can I say the post perfect Fall palette yet! It was actually a tossed up between this and the UD Ultimate Basis palette because I’ve been wearing both non-stop but my love for shimmer shadows won hence why this is the one in my favorites today. The finish is super buttery, incredibly pigmented, and blend so beautifully. Here’s a post on my review.

Josie Maran Cosmetics Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm : I haven’t heard about this balm or read any reviews on this. I got this deluxe sample from Sephora and started using it a few weeks ago. This is a “skincare finisher and makeup primer in one that is supposed to hydrate, plumps and smooths…” This is an incredible primer. It absorbs quickly, feels lightweight and not at all oily. I love how it nicely hydrates the skin especially since my skin gets really dry in the cooler months. Love it as a primer. Only downsize is, it’s a little pricey for the amount you get!

Share your favorites below so I can check them out!
