As part of Urban Decay’s summer collection, they also launched three gorgeous shades of highlighting powders! So far the only thing I picked up from the collection was their Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Perfector (review here). I hadn’t plan on picking up anything else from the collection because although everything is pretty, I can’t say any of them are absolute must haves (at least for me) but after swatching the Aura highlighter in-store, I instantly fell in love with it. The collection has three shades of highlighters, two bronzers, two eye pencils and the foundation I mentioned above.
Although I love champagne/gold highlighters and I also think they suit my skin tone the best, I have many of those in my collection, so I wanted to go with something a bit different and so I went with Aura which is so very pretty and is described as an “iridescent light pink” with a luminous sheen finish. The other two in the line are Fireball (peach with pink shift) and Sin (champagne). According to the Sephora website, these Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Highlighters are supposed to be “finely-milled to perfection for a lightweight (yet luxurious) result”, “goes on sheer and blends in easily”. After testing it, I can honestly say they are indeed lightweight with a soft, smooth creamy texture. You can definitely apply it sheer for a subtle effect, or built it up if you want a stronger opaque duo-chrome highlight; and it blends easily on the skin. Infused with light-diffusing pigments, it enhances and perfects the skin and didn’t emphasize pores or the skin’s texture. You only need a small amount as it is pigmented. It is glowy but not glittery and it leaves this beautiful pearly pink shift that you can see when it catches the light. This is unique from all my other highlighters and it also makes a great blush topper. It wore for about 8 hours.
Like Urban Decay’s Afterglow Blush, the Afterglow Highlighter comes in a custom compact with a fishnet “UD” cutout on the lid. The sleek case is also practical as the shade shows through the cutout.
Overall, these are not a must have but they are great quality highlighters that are not ridiculous priced. You can find the Urban Decay collection including the highlighters online at Sephora and Urban Decay for CAD $32.00 & US $26.00.
Have you picked up anything from the collection? What did you think?
