FEATURED DESIGNERS
AUGUSTA FASHION
Titled the “Becoming” collection, AUGUSTA FASHION opened with a captivating showcase. The designs stand out for their playfulness, colour, and versatility. The prints on the garment are bold and feature colour blocking. This designer is based out of Edmonton, Alberta and utilizes traditional artisan tailoring and textile design techniques, while championing sustainable practices in Canadian fashion.
Each look is ethereal and deviates from social norms or expectations. It reflects on what it means to ‘dress well’ and how we might redefine that definition by using self-expression and experience as a basis for design. The work tells a story of child-like freedom from inhibition.
All looks are gender neutral.
The founder of the brand, Maria Augusta Wozniak, is committed to elevating people in communities through the power of fashion. Her independent label views fashion as a form of personal expression rather than a pursuit of possessions.
ALLELES
This featured brand is most known for their fashion-forward prosthetic covers that are designed and manufactured from their Vancouver studio. Over the past decade, they have spent their time brining their product to market within the medical realm. For the debut of their first head-to-toe runway show, they returned to their design roots and extended these techniques into other products such as clothing, accessories, and sculpture.
Their philosophy is to create a foundation for individuals to represent their own personalization.
The creators of ALLELES are a duo that have a background in industrial design and art. McCauley Wanner and Ryan Palibroda are dedicated to innovation and ensure their garments are crafted with a purpose. They believe that clothing should be custom made and measurements taken to ensure it fits well. Through a specific questionnaire they are able to get details of personal preferences to guarantee that the clothes resonate with the customer. Their brand highlights modular fashion pieces with choice as a core value.
KURRIIZMATIC
KURRIIZMATIC makes a point of reducing environmental impact by transforming second-hand clothing and material scraps into genderless, handmade pieces that embody a unique blend of style and ethical responsibility. The progressive movement behind the brand is a way of breathing new life into materials and making distinctive looks. Their handwoven fabric offers an advantage by being endlessly adaptable. The designer is a beacon of empowerment to individuals to express their authentic selves.
PIPIRO-HIRO
From Tokyo, the brand is based on Harajuku Shibuya culture. They offer a wide variety of magical girl styles and focus on those who longed for them in their childhood.
Pink is the signature colour of this collection.
PIPIRO-HIRO offers a unique perspective on fashion. Outfitted in wigs and very different ensembles of clothing, this brand is really challenging the status quo.
LE GRAINE
“Chapter01” is a collection inspired by the designer’s long journey of seeking an ideal, timeless, and functional wardrobe for 20 years with no luck. Yuko Nakamura put her thoughts into the collection and determined that the most important thing was a good atmosphere to impact a design. The beautiful looks also do not compromise on comfortability or utility.
All garments are made with beautiful high-quality fabrics and made by a skilled artisan.
LE GRAINE was launched in 2017 in Japan.
MRS MOMMA BEAR
This line of workwear is the latest collection by MRS MOMMA BEAR. The local brand is poised to captivate audiences by setting new trends in the professional attire landscape.
Afterglow was curated by designer Lee Evans Lee with inspiration from the intricate balance between urban sophistication and natural beauty. Each garment in the collection exudes a sense of modern elegance and refined style. It seamlessly blends functionality with high-end fashion aesthetics.
From tailored suiting to statement jumpsuits, there are a diverse range of pieces. The brand’s hope is to empower individuals with both confidence and sophistication in any setting.
Furthermore, the quality craftmanship can be seen in the contemporary edge clothing.
