It’s Easy with These 3 Steps!

Unsurprisingly, leading a healthy lifestyle makes you healthier. It’s a fact proven by numerous studies (The European Journal of Science and Technology). What few people seem to understand is that ‘healthier’ means not only ‘having a lower risk of getting sick’. This literally makes one a happier person and extends one’s lifespan (Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine). And the best thing? Transitioning to a healthy lifestyle and sticking with it is actually easier than you might think. There are only a few changes you’ll need to make to achieve this, and there is a way to make them easy.

Transitioning to a Healthy Lifestyle: 3 Simple Steps

1.      Eat healthy, don’t diet

A great number of people have a kneejerk reaction to the very word ‘dieting’. This term is associated with something unfulfilling, unhappy, and above all, totally not delicious. It’s no wonder so many people fail to stick to their diets. Why would you want to keep doing something that makes you unhappy?

However, having a well-balanced diet is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. That’s the reason why this life choice can help you lose weight. But what you need to understand is that you don’t have to ‘go on a diet’ to actually achieve that. You simply should start ‘eating better’.

There’s science to back up the fact that it’s the quality of the food you eat, not its quantity, that ultimately decides whether you will lose weight (The New York Times). Eating the right foods will not only provide you with essential nutrients to stay healthy. If you plan your meals right, you can also learn how to control your appetite naturally. It’s all about what you eat and when to make sure your body feels full. If you do this, sticking to a healthy ‘diet’ will be easy because your body doesn’t really want to not be healthy.

That’s why many people state that once they’ve switched to a clean diet, their cravings for ‘bad’ foods go down naturally. Even your taste perception can change due to this shift, so sticking to that diet is easy. However, it will only work if your meal plan is well balanced. Consider consulting a nutritionist to develop one.

2.      Walk every day

Walking seems like a simple thing, yet it has tremendous health benefits. In fact, any activity that keeps you out of your couch does. However, walking is one of the simplest and most pleasant ones. Most importantly, it’s also easy on your body and mind.

What do you think, will it be easier to find motivation to spend an hour at a gym or walking through a beautiful park with a friend/pet/iPod?

It’s because of this easy motivation and huge health benefits that walking should be the first healthy change you should incorporate in your lifestyle. Start with daily short walks. Even if they are only 15 minutes long, this will be a good start. If you have a pet that needs regular walks you won’t have an issue by default. Seeing how many benefits pets have for your mental health, you should consider getting one by default.

3.      Set goals, but small ones

The secret of making the transition to a healthy lifestyle easy is to make it unnoticeable. You should take small steps, like ‘drinking a freshly-squeezed juice instead of Coke for lunch today and tomorrow’. Seems easy, right? And it will be even easier if you set a goal for a week and the next week you won’t want Coke at all.Want to Lead a Healthy Lifestyle?

If you do, let yourself have it, see how your body reacts to a sudden sugar overload. Once the sugar crash is over, it will push you back to healthy a juice that doesn’t make it suffer naturally.

Set such small goals regularly until you transform your entire lifestyle one tiny piece at a time.
