A new you. But what does that mean? It means whatever you wish it to mean. There’s going to be certain aspects of your life that you really wish you could change. Whether it be you as a person, your image, what you do, or what you want to do. Everyone has dreams and ambitions that they rarely have the time to achieve. But that’s exactly what’s making us dislike our lives. Pretty much all of us will wake up everyday wishing something was different. So why not go out and make those changes to give yourself a happier life? We only get one life, there’s no point wasting being unhappy. Taking that leap of faith, or even just knowing where to start can be a bit daunting. Ladies, listen up, this article is going to try and spur you on to solve all your issues.

Beauty

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right? But when you look in the mirror, you are the beholder. To be truly happy, you need to be happy with the way you look. There will always be something you wish you could change about yourself, so we’re going to start with the things that you easily can. Makeup is a glorious tool that most of us girls rely on to give our face a bit of life. But, there’s more to it than just a little bit of foundation and mascara. That’s the basic look that everyone goes for. But with the power of makeup you can literally transform yourself into a new person. Some lads may call it catfish, we call it skills. But why wouldn’t we utilise something that has the means to make us feeling amazing about ourselves? The first step in a good makeup routine is the cleanse. Remove all those impurities from your face with either a steaming hot shower, or a nice warm wash. The steam is needed to open your pores, so if you’re going for the wash option, you’re going to need a bowel, a towel and some boiling water afterwards. Put the towel over your head and let the pores open. Then get yourself a nose strip to get all of the grime and dirt from that area. Then, get yourself a good facial scrub and use it to get all of the dry skin away. Then the final step of a pre makeup routine is the facemask. There’s tonnes of different one’s out there that do different things. A moisture one is usually a good idea before applying foundation as some foundations can sometimes dry the skin. Finish with a light moisturisers then you’re done. Repeat all of this apart from the scrub and face mask daily. Use the scrub and mask around two to three times a week.

Then you’re onto the good part. Start with a dab of primer and massage it into the face. This will provide a base for your foundation. Then start to build your layers of foundation using a brush or dabbing with a sponge. Build the layers until you have enough coverage. Then move onto the contour. There are different ways to contour different face shapes, but you can check out a guide here. The power of makeup will restructure your face. Then move onto the eyes. A good eyeshadow palette like the ones from places such as Gallany will be perfect for creating any look you need. Again, there are so many styles, the smoky eye look, the warm glow etc. So take a look at some guides and see what works for you. Finish the eye with a thin layer of liner and a couple of coats of mascara and you’re ready to go. If you like to fill in your eyebrows, be sure not to do them too thick, or too thin. Follow the natural outline of your brow.

Hair

Your face and makeup is one of the biggest ways to create a new you, so it had to be the biggest part. But your hair has just as much power with transforming the way you look. It is very common for people to have the same type of colour, or style hair cut for a long while. If you’re happy with it, then great! But if you’re always wishing you had the guts to change things up a little then just go for it. Sometimes a drastic change will be a huge shock to begin with, but after a while you’ll become used to it, and it’ll be the look you’ve always wanted. If you’re a blonde and want to go brunette, then take that leap. If you always have a simple cut with a few layers, try going a little shorter and having a more choppy look. Take inspiration from celebrities or people around you. Silver hair is so popular right now, and if you’re blonde it isn’t that hard to get there with some shampoo. But if you want the proper silver look, you’re best of booking in with the hairdressers. Maintaining your hair’s health is so important as well, especially if you’re dying it. Dying through the hairdressers is a little safer, but if you’re doing it at home you’re more likely to cause a bit of damage. There are some great hair masks around that can really help heal those split ends. If you’re deciding to put a colour on, you might benefit from a regular cut to help fresh ends grow.

Fashion

Your sense of fashion is something that defines who you are. If there’s one thing people will remember about you, it’s how you dress. Like with all the other areas of this post, it’s easy for people to fall into the same habits when it comes to style. But nothing is more refreshing than a new wardrobe. Yes it might be a little expensive, so start one step at a time. Are you someone who always wears jeans and a top? Or leggings and a jumper? It’s fine if that’s what you’re comfortable wearing, but if you want to push the boat out you need to think bigger and show off the figure you have. For a casual day look. Knee high boots are really in at the minute, especially with the colder months approaching us. Pair them with some nice dark blue skinny jeans, a bodysuit, and a longline dark coloured coat. It’s such a sophisticated yet comfortable look. As of an evening, then is the time to really show off your figure. Bodycon dresses with a decent enough sized heel are perfect for lengthening your legs, and putting curves in the right places. You’ll feel a lot more confident within yourself if you know you look good.

Lifestyle

This is going to be a broad paragraph as there are a few different ways you can change your lifestyle to become a better you. The first being with the way you live your life.  Are you the type of person who eats, works, sleeps, repeats? Well switch it up. No doubt when you were younger you were always out and about with friends doing things. Money might be tighter as you get older, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go for a drink them every couple of weeks to keep things fun. Change your lifestyle to make it more fun and you’ll feel more and more positive everyday. You can also change your lifestyle in terms of diet and fitness. It is so trendy on instagram at the minute for girls to be so into their nice healthy diet, and building a toned body. The effect it’ll have with regards to how you’ll feel about yourself will be amazing. You’ll have a lot more energy throughout the day from the new diet, and the noticeable changes in your body appearance would be so uplifting.

Travel

Traveling is the best way to enrich the mind, especially when you’re travelling alone. You’ll feel so independent, and really start to understand who you are as a person and what makes you happy. We’re so used to being in the normal daily routine of life, that travelling can really show us what it means to become a new person. If you stay in hostels, you’ll end up making a load of new friends, and will just have an amazing time. Create a bucket list of all the places you’d like to go and start with the easiest first. If you have a partner or friend to go with and you’d prefer company, then travelling will still have to same effect. Sometimes it’s nice to share the experience with someone else. It’s really popular at the minute.

Creating a new you that you’re comfortable and happy with will take a while, but the end result will be the new better you that you’ve always wanted to become.
