I recently attended the PÜR event to preview their spring 2017 collection. I have never tried PÜR cosmetics before so I was pretty excited to try the brand as a whole. Known globally for intelligent beauty solutions, PÜR’s signature complexion, skincare and on-trend color products are known to provide immediate flawless results and natural looking coverage that nourish and improve the skin’s health over time. There were a good amount of products in the collection and today I will be sharing a few items from the launch along with some swatches.
The Bare It All 4-in-1 Skin-Perfecting Foundation is a 12-hour demi-matte foundation with high coverage. There are 10 shades available and I’m in the shade Light Tan which is a perfect match for my medium olive complexion. I usually prefer medium coverage foundations so I was a little nervous about this slightly thick full coverage foundation due to the demi-matte finish since I am on the slightly drier side and “matte” foundations usually tend to cling to any dry patches I may have.
For a full coverage foundation, it actually feels incredible light on the skin. It is formulated with Energy Complex (green tea, ginseng and B vitamins) and Ceretin Complex, which renews the look of your skin. It’s nicely pigmented and blends in flawlessly, so it covers some skin imperfections. Though having a matte finish, I love that it looks natural and not cakey and it didn’t cling to any of my dry patches but that could also be because I usually prep my skin very well with everything hydrating. While I of course prefer a slightly lighter and dewier look/coverage than this, I must say I was really impressed with this foundation and I really really like it a lot.
In terms of application, while the foundation brush (will discuss below) works very well with this foundation – blending it very fast and was effective, and also giving the foundation a full coverage look, it wasn’t my favorite application method. I personally prefer using a beauty sponge and I also enjoy at times adding a couple drops of facial oils or some illuminator in the foundation to give it a more glowy finish, which I prefer. It’s packaged in a holographic squeeze tube. Overall, though it feels very lightweight on the skin (honestly, it really feels like you’re not wearing anything on your face), it is a thick foundation so dry to very dry skin or maturing skin should keep this in mind.
Skin-Perfecting Foundation Brush(CAD $40)
We all know what a splash the Artis brushes made and since then I have tried these ones from Photo Finish. Like I mentioned in that post, while they were nice, I still actually prefer my good old traditional brushes and beauty sponges for applying my foundation. I also prefer this brush to those ones.
This particular brush is for Face and Body and it is a soft, cruelty free synthetic microfiber brush with grip handle that gives skin a smooth airbrush effect that look like second skin. This multipurpose brush can be used to apply creams, powders and bronzers on the face or body. This brush is really well-made, very dense but soft! I can achieve a high coverage when I use this brush to apply foundation but like I mentioned above, while the brush works very well with this foundation, I prefer using a beauty sponge. I didn’t find that it sucked up a lot of the product and though not my favorite for applying foundation, it did give a smooth finish.
This has a mousse texture that glides on easily and coats lips in a matte finish. It feels creamy and the formula is highly pigmented. I have the shade Addiction, a deep burgundy brown which is a beautiful deep shade. It actually didn’t feel all that drying on the lips like you might expect from a matte color and was comfortable to wear. Once the matte affect is activated, you get a velvety finish without any flakiness because the Pur Agave extract offers durable hydration. However, I found that it was a little patchy on application and it didn’t glide on evenly. There are 6 shades available but as I’ve only tried this shade, I can’t speak for the consistency of the other shades. This is definitely not a kiss proof lipstick and it will transfer.
Pur Cosmetics’ new palettes makes on-the-go application very easy. These portable vanity palettes are perfect for your busy lifestyle. The mirror can also be pulled upwards, making it a mini-vanity of your dreams wherever you may be! Each compact has 4 eyeshadows, a highlighter, blush, and bronzer and is available in: the Smokey Goal Digger which has all shimmery shades and has a shiny packaging AND the Warm Peachy, Neutral Dream Chaser which has matte shades but has a matte compact so you can differentiate between the two palettes. These palettes were made for the girl on-the-go and it is definitely going to change the way you do your makeup on the go. You can take your look from day to night in a flash or do a quick touch-up between meetings.
Which palette do I prefer you ask? Well, I absolutely adore the Goal Digger palette. Though powdery, everything in this palette just works for me. The eye shadows are just beautiful, they are soft, smooth and pigmented and of course, they are shimmery so what’s there not to love. The highlighter, blush and bronzer are equally beautiful and really flatters my skin tone very well.
As for the Dream Chaser palette, while I enjoy the matte eye shadows in this palette, the highlighter, blush and bronzer are too powdery and they do not show up on my medium olive complexion. The highlighter is chalky and patchy on my skin. And the blush and bronzer are basically non-existence – I really have to dig my brush in to get it to show up on my skin. I think this particular palette would be best suited for fairer skin tones. The eyeshadows on the other hand, though powdery as well, are very soft and nice and they blend beautifully and evenly and last a good 7-8 hours on without any eye primer whatsoever.
Bottom line, I adore the foundation which was so surprising for me but it wears beautifully and feels so lightweight and didn’t make my skin feel dry. I enjoy the liquid lipstick formula, though I would have prefer a more neutral or lighter shade. As for the cheek palettes, it’s not something I would repurchase and I’m not quite sure how often I will be reaching for either one to be honest but I must say I actually prefer the eyeshadows in Dream Chaser palette more as I feel like they’re more wearable on an everyday basis but I prefer the highlighter, blush and bronzer in the Goal Digger palette as they showed up more on my skin.
