Soothing Post-Treatment Mask

Shani Darden Signature Nourishing Facial Mask Is a Facial in a Jar

There are so many masks promising to give your skin what it needs most these days: everlasting hydration, a more even tone, and a smoother, softer, line-free look. Thankfully, Zoom’s “camera off” option has made it much easier for us to multitask, and simultaneously, to try out some of the newest skincare-focused masks to hit the market. One clay mask with powerful ingredients to keep your skin at its best is from Shani Darden. There are a couple of products I keep on my weekly rotation, and Shani Darden facial mask is one of them. For the unfamiliar, Darden is a celebrity aesthetician.

Shani Darden Signature Nourishing Facial Mask is a calming, replenishing clay mask born in Shani Darden’s treatment room that visibly reduces redness and calms irritation while gently detoxifying.

This nourishing clay mask inspired by the hand-whipped, post-treatment mask used in Shani’s signature facials to soothe redness and irritation. Replenishing squalane, calming colloidal oatmeal, and a soothing triple-tea complex are combined into a hand-whipped, fluffy texture that leaves even the most stressed or sensitive skin, including eczema-prone, visibly replenished, re-energized, and radiant. Kaolin and Bentonite Clay helps absorb excess oil and clear congestion without over-drying.

It’s pretty simple to use as well: After cleansing, apply generously to face and neck, avoiding eye area. The brand recommends leaving this mask on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing, and really, that’s all you need to end up with some seriously gorgeous skin.

Every single time I use this mask, I feel like I just walked out of a HydraFacial treatment so I am basically getting facial-worthy results without having to visit my aesthetician. The mask is also great for prepping your skin before using other, more targeted masks as it gently rids you of dead skin cells. My skin is smooth, and even—and the rest of my skincare and makeup products glide on like butter thereafter. I seriously love using facial masks. I have dry skin to begin with and this does not dry me out at all. Sometimes my skin gets sensitive as well, especially when I use too much actives, but this mask is very soothing on my skin. It’s gentle cleansing perks up my skin without that tight feeling that many masks result in giving me. It is easy to rinse off and I love the wonderful brush that comes with it. This mask is also a great pre-treatment solution to retinol irritation. It’s not just for post-treatments, it can also be used before retinol and other high-performance treatments to minimize sensitivity and redness.

I’m a big fan of her products and currently use her Retinol Reform, Lactic acid serum, as well as the Peptide cream. You can find them all on Sephora.
