Sephora Bright Set Loose Finishing Powder (US $16.00 & CAD $20.00) is an illuminating, shine-reducing loose powder that can brighten and/or set makeup. This multipurpose powder can be used to set makeup or brighten targeted areas. The universally flattering shade works for most skintones. This product can be used with a sponge or fluffy brush to achieve desired setting powder or brightening effect.
Now I was really excited to try this as the only other loose setting powder that I am currently using is my beloved Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (review here), which is a holy grail status for me; however it is more on the pricey side with a price tag of US $22.50, CAD $27.00 for 0.33 oz (travel size) and the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder with a price tag of US $24.00, CAD $29.00 for 0.14 oz.
The Sephora Bright Set Loose Finishing Powder is lightweight and feels smooth and silky. It blends very nicely into the skin giving a brightening effect. It did not leave any white ashy cast like some transparent powders do. It is perfect as an all over loose powder to brighten up the complexion and also for setting my concealer, especially around my eyes. I did not find that it cling to any dry patches or dry out my skin, so even if you are on the drier side, this will work just fine.
In terms of packaging, I love that there is a sifter that can be twisted closed or open and you have the ability to close the sifter to keep the powder from spilling all over the place and creating a mess. Overall, I am really enjoying this powder. I love how it sets my makeup, brightens while giving a smooth appearance to the skin and helps to reduce the oil in my T-zone. Overall Rating: 4.5/5

How does it compare to Laura Mercier’s Secret Brightening Powder? I’m trying to decide between the two!
I find the formula similar to each other and both gives the face a brighten more awaken look but I actually find that the Sephora one gives a more brighter look over the LM because it’s so yellow. However, the LM one keeps me more matte throughout the day while I can get oily in the T-zone area faster with the Sephora one.
Thanks so much!
