There’s a new cushion foundation at the drugstore! Said to have a fresh luminous glow in a tap and drenched with water enrobed pigments, the L’Oréal True Match Lumi Cushion Buildable Luminous Foundation is formulated with Precise Match Technology to match your skin’s tone and texture in a travel-friendly compact. This liquid foundation comes in a traditional cushion compact with a pretty rose gold lid; and when you open it up there’s a puff and a sponge soaked in foundation. The only other cushion compact that I’ve tried is the Amore Pacific Color Control Cushion Compact, which I love!
The L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation is available in 12 shades, and they are divided up into three categories with 4 shades for Cool, Warm and Neutral undertones. I was having a difficult time choosing which shade matches me because there were no testers available. I initially wanted to pick up W5.5 but I could not find that shade after going to two drugstores so I decided to get shade N5.5, which is a neutral shade though I’m generally on the warmer side but the neutral shades look very yellow, especially N5.5. However, it turned out that it was too light for my golden-olive skin tone (but still wearable after powder/bronzing the skin) as you can see in the swatches below, so when I can find shade W5.5, I plan to pick that one up.
The coverage is light-to-medium and provides flawless coverage with a satin finish that gives a natural looking radiance to the skin. If you like a full opaque coverage, then this is not for you. It does a good job of concealing minor issues such as redness, and it does brighten and evens out my complexion but doesn’t completely cover major imperfections. I really like the luminous finish (no glitter or shimmer) and the formula because it doesn’t feel heavy or oily on the skin. It actually feels really smooth and lightweight like you’re not wearing anything at all. It is so hydrating and creamy and it is also great for quick touch-ups as it doesn’t look patchy or cakey nor does it emphasize or adheres to drier areas. I like to set it with Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder or Avon Ideal Flawless Pressed Powder, by patting on skin with a fluffy powder brush. True Match Lumi contains no SPF, which for some might be a drawback. But if you have sensitivities to synthesized sunscreen ingredients, the True Match Lumi is the cushion you want to try (Amore Pacific Color Control Cushion Compact contains SPF).
This can be applied a couple of ways; with a brush of your choice or with a Beauty Blender sponge but the applicator that comes with it works great as well. This wore well for about 8 hours before my T-zone starts getting oily. If you are normal to dry, you will love this. It’s really great to see cushion foundations at the drugstore. The only downside is unlike Amore Pacific Color Control Cushion Compact, this one is not refillable, so you have to buy a new compact every time you run out.
The L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation retail for CAD $19.99 at Walmart Canada and $22.99 at Shoppers Drugmart, which is where I purchased mine. So how about this L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Cushion? Who’s tried it?
