Introducing the latest addition to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting line…it is the Ambient Lighting Blush Palette. This is a Limited-Edition palette with three of the Ambient Lighting Blushes in the colors Luminous Flush (champagne rose), Incandescent Electra (cool peach, exclusive to the palette) and Mood Exposure (soft plum).
I first heard about the release of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette through my Instagram feed. I was like, “get out of here” but I was not surprised due to the success and popularity of the Ambient Lighting Powders, it made sense that Hourglass would release a blush palette. Needless to say I was utterly excited and when I saw the stunner of the picture, I knew without a doubt that I was going to get it, no matter the price. I did not previously own any of two permanent shades in this palette which can be purchased individually (I only have Diffused Heat and I gave away Dim Light) so you could imagine my excitement to get my hands on this palette.
The Ambient Lighting Blushes are multi-dimensional powders with swirls of pigmented color and highlighter. Infused with what Hourglass calls “Photoluminescent Technology” which exhibits depth and dimension, this blush does not fall flat and is lightweight, leaving the entire complexion with an “otherworldly glow”. All the powders are handmade so no two are alike.
“Traditional blush can read as flat, and so I was inspired to create something that was far more seamless. Ambient Lighting Blush fuses two advanced formulas to create something entirely new. It’s unlike any other product on the market.” – Carisa Janes, Hourglass founder.
I personally am in love with the Ambient Lighting Powders (palette review here) as well as the individual Blushes.
The Ambient Lighting Blushes are very soft, luminous but not shimmery, so it didn’t emphasize pores or skin imperfections, finely milled, and has a smooth and silky texture. They deliver a radiant natural finish with good color payoff that is buildable and blends very well. The quality and wear on these blushes are excellent on my NC40 skin and I find that the application and colors show up very well on my skin.
These blushes are subtle and look very natural when on the skin. These are a highlighter blush hybrid so along with giving you a flush of color you can also achieve a beautiful glow. Although I find that they were a bit powdery in the pan, they had very nice pigmentation, and the texture felt soft and smooth, and not cakey at all giving you a very beautiful glow.
The blushes are only slightly smaller than the full size; you get 0.15 oz (4.3g) for full size at US $35.00 & CAD $41.00 while the palette blushes weigh in at 3.3g. By purchasing the blush palette, you are actually getting a good value.
These are free of parabens, talc, fragrance, nanoparticles, and gluten. No animal testing.
Luminous Flush: A champagne rose blush fused with Luminous Light to evoke a candlelit glimmer. It is a warm medium pink/coral color with a luminous satin sheen.
Incandescent Electra: A cool peach blush fused with hourglass ambient lighting powder with a satin finish.
Mood Exposure: A soft plum blush fused with Mood Light to brighten the complexion. It is a medium-dark, rosy plum color with warm undertones and a soft sheen.
Because these blushes are handmade and no two are alike, you will get a different mix and varying finishes as the colors look slightly different from pan to pan because they are unique on their own. Some people will likely see much more blush color than the ambient lighting powder in one or vice versa. Wear time is very good and can last a whole work day (up to 8-10 hours). The packaging is very similar to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette.
AVAILABILITY: You can find it now at Sephora and Hourglasscosmetics.com
