Latest Obsession: L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer

LOreal Brow Stylist Definer-review-006

I first heard of the new L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer while watching Tati on YouTube so of course I had to go hunting for it. I purchased mine at Walmart and I couldn’t wait to compare to see if the Brow Stylist Definer was a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz. Finding decent brow products at the drugstore is not always an easy task and I never really found one at the drugstore that wow me like the Brow Wiz!

According to the L’Oreal website, “the 0.5 mm ultra-fine tip of the pencil is the perfect tool to recreate tiny brow hairs, allowing you to precisely draw and shape your brows for a well-defined look.” There is a spoolie blending brush on the other end. There are three colors available: Blonde, Brunette, and Dark Brunette. Of the three shades available, I purchased the Brunette shade. I really hope that L’Oreal release more shades with various undertones to suit more complexions.

Firstly, the Brow Wiz (review here) has a distinctive waxy texture that is ideal for defining your brow shape. The ultra-fine tip is great for precision, so it’s perfect for a really defined brow and drawing individual hair. I use Dark Brown.

Now, the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer is a thin pencil that is the perfect size for sculpting and shaping your brows using light strokes that look like real hairs, so the effect is very natural. The texture is creamy and glides on smoothly and sticks to the skin easily. The pigmentation is really amazing and very buildable but is easy to sheer out for a more natural look.

When I compare the two pencils side-by-side, they look very similar except for the spoolie brush. The Anastasia version is thicker and I find that it smooths out the brow hair nicer. However, both the actual texture of the pencils are nice and creamy and I was truly pleasantly surprised by just how creamy the L’Oreal pencil was and just how much I like it. They have the same amount of product with the same ultra-fine tip. Both are retractable and lasted well throughout the day, and there was no signs of one fading quicker than the other. The Brow Wiz is a bit warmer compared to the cooler toned Brow Stylist Definer, but despite the slight differences, when applied to the brows, you can hardly see the difference. The swatch on the left is the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer and the swatch on the right is the Anastasia Brow Wiz.

Overall, I would definitely say that the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer is a dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. While I love my brow wiz, it just makes better sense price wise to repurchase the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer over the Anastasia Brow Wiz. I’m not saying I’ll never repurchase the Brow Wiz, but honestly, that will not be happening anytime soon. If you have been wanting the try the Brow Wiz (CAD $27.00) but cannot justify the price point, then the L’Oréal Brow Stylist Definer (CAD $10.00) is a great alternative!
