3 DIY HAIR MASKS FOR NATURAL HAIR

Happy Friday beauties!

I’ve been under the weather the last few days and what has made it even harder is the fact that the hubby is out of the country on a business trip so it’s just me and our two girls. Imagine been so sick with the flu and having to take care of an 8 and 5 year old plus making sure they’re off to school for 7 & 8am every morning…it’s not easy!!!. Anyway, I’ve been feeling much better now and should be back to my perky self in no time but since I’ve been sick, I’ve been behind on blog posts and comments so forgive me, I will catch up soon 🙂

Today’s post is about hair – it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these types of posts.

First of all, I’m not a DIY person… at all but with my naturally curly hair that tends to get dry easily, natural hair masks are an excellent way to treat dull and dry hair at home as you get to control the ingredients that go into your hair! I naturally require a regular deep condition from time to time to keep my strands manageable and frizz free as my dry hair suffers from lack of oil and moisture which makes them frizzy. But do you know that you can achieve this just from using the ingredients in your kitchen…that’s right, you heard me!!. For soft, shiny hair; here are some at home-masks I like to do on occasion (because I’m lazy like that):

Hair Repairing Mask: Coconut Oil & Honey

Besides smelling amazing, coconut oil is full of healthy fats and other nutrient boosting properties, which will leave your hair shiny and moisturized! This coconut repairing mask restores the moisture and shine back into your hair. Leave this in for 20-30 minutes.

The Moisturizing Hair Mask: Avocado & Banana

This has got to be my favorite one because of the nourishment it gives my hair. I must admit though that I cringe every time I do this mask because I’m a HUGE avocado lover – I mean I can literally eat everything and anything with avocado (not something hubby understands) so whenever I do this mask, I have to take a little taste (don’t judge me)…

Anyways, just combine ½ avocado and ½ banana by mashing very well together in a bowl, and then add about 1 tbsp. of olive oil. Apply to hair and don’t forget the ends. Leave on for 30 minutes before thoroughly rinsing.

For Curly Hair: Greek Yogurt & Honey

I like this mask because of course I’m a curly hair gal and I love the benefits of the yogurt and honey combined. Yogurt is full of lactic acid and the anti-fungal and antibacterial agents found in yogurt makes it a great hair mask. It moisturizes dry and damaged hair, and adds shine. I like the addition of the honey for its scalp-cleansing antibacterial properties, plus add a few drops of olive oil for a healthy dose of moisture. Just combined all ingredients together and apply to hair for 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

But of course, if you’re lazy like me and DIY isn’t your thing, you can always try one of these hair masks below:
