Revlon released a new foundation at the end of last year with the Revlon Fall 2017 Collection. The Revlon Photoready Insta-Filter Foundation comes in 12 shades. It features an innovative formula that works with your skin type to even and smooth your skin tone. The built in blender makes it easy and hygienic to blend foundation. The High-Definition Filter technology captures and transforms any light to blur and soften flaws–leaving the perfect app filtered look.
The foundation is housed in a twist-up applicator where you get a tool sponge for application. I do not like the packaging because I feel like they could have just gone with a good old fashion pump. I don’t like these type of applicators as they get really dirty quickly and sponges grab bacteria really quickly. I think Revlon was trying to probably be innovative with the applicator but it is just a fail for me. DO NOT shake foundation without the top on.
The product itself has a lightweight formula that blends out very well. I would say it’s a medium coverage which is my preference for coverage. This sets quickly to a natural matte skin-like finish. It feels comfortable on the skin. It covers a lot of my hyperpigmentation on my skin, also my sun spots, age spots and freckles. I don’t think it lives up to the insta-blurring claims but there are no foundations that blurs all my imperfections anyway. The foundation doesn’t catch on dryness, texture or accentuate any imperfections, nor does it look heavy or cakey. I like using a moisturizing primer with this foundation because of my dry/combo skin type. If you have a drier skin type, this might be a little too matte for you as it definitely dries down matte. I personally like to apply this foundation with a damp beauty blender as I feel like the sponge applicator on it gave a more light coverage, made it streaky and did not provide an even application. I also noticed that the foundation oxides a little.
Overall, the finish is amazing – it gives you natural radiance without looking greasy or shiny. It didn’t catch on any dry patches that I have on my skin and it also doesn’t settle into fine lines. Concealers and powder laid on top of it beautifully and it looks nice and smooth and really filtered…see what I did there 🙂 I am however not a fan of the price point for a drugstore foundation, nor do I like the applicator. And unfortunately the shade I have is slightly too dark/orange but I make it work.
The Revlon Photoready Insta-Filter Foundation is available at your local drugstores with a pretty steep price of US $17.99 / CAD $22.99.
Have you tried this yet? What did you think?
