Hi beauties, yesterday I was in bed most of the day nursing a sore throat while also taking care of the little ones as they too were under the weather. Though not 100%, I am felling much better and the little ones are off to school today. As promised in Friday’s post, here is my review on the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in Allison.
This is my first Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick. Not sure what took me this long to try them, but when I saw the release of the two new liquid lip colour shades (Ashton & Allison), they were simply stunning. I was able to swatch Allison in store recently and I fell in love with the shade. I was never the biggest fan of matte lipsticks because I just hate the feeling of my lips feeling parched and dry but after hearing all the rave reviews on these lipsticks, I decided it was time to give these lipsticks a try.
Allison is described as a pinky brown shade. Since this shade has the brown tones in it, it is the perfect fall lip shade. This color is bold and will complement your fall styles beautifully!
The lipstick contain a flat sponge-tip applicator. It had great coverage that applied evenly and smoothly and I like that it is not too heavy nor cakey. The texture is very pigmented (only 1-2 swipes will do), it’s buildable, and lightweight. I find the formula to be slightly creamy upon application and initially sticky. There was no streakiness nor was it patchy but it had minimal transfer. Of course, it’s always a good idea to exfoliate your lips prior to application and I always wear a balm (nothing shiny or slippery) prior to application of any liquid lipsticks or matte lipsticks as this shade definitely shows those lip lines if your lips are dry. On my NC 40 skin tone, the shade wasn’t too dark but looks neutral and wearable. It’s deep enough for Fall, but not so vampy. It pulled more brownish on me with a hint of rose. On me, the color wears for five hours, and is somewhat drying on the lips. This is a true matte lipstick. I really do like the shade but after trying a few liquid lipsticks, I still prefer the Kat Von D formula. It also reminds me of Kat Von D Lolita but deeper; so if you already have Lolita, I don’t think you need Allison; but hey if you are a lip junkie, by all means the more the merrier 🙂 Below are swatches of both shades side by side.
I’ve seen where some have indicated the shade is darker than advertised or that it is more brown toned than the pinky-brown it is described as. However, we all have different undertones so the shades may look brighter or darker on different skin tones, plus depending on the lighting it will either look plumy or brownish/mauve; just thought I would throw that out there.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks can be found at Sephora retailing for CAD $26.00 / US $20.00 and this is limited edition release.
Have you tried this formula as yet? If not, will you be snagging this shade before it sells out?
xo ❤
