Catrice’s latest release for summer is every makeup lover’s dream. They released a trio of eyeshadow palettes that were inspired by the Instagram culture. There are three palettes that all come with twelve (12) shades that are a mix of matte and shimmers. Each palette has a theme of either warm toned, cool toned or neutral toned shades. The palette names are Basic Bae, Badass Bae, and Self-Made Bae Eyeshadow Palettes but I will only be reviewing the latter two.
The Catrice Bae Palettes come in a slim cardboard palette with yellow embossing and a large mirror on the inside. It’s not fancy or anything but it feels good for the price point.
BADASS BAE Eyeshadow Palette
Slay All Day, Every Day
These shades are warm and fiery shades with matte and shimmering finishes. Shade names include: #BADASS #CLAPBACK, #SAVAGE, #REBEL, #BREAKRULES, #OWNIT, #LITAF, #IDGAF, #RBF, #GETATME, #YASS, #BYEFELICIA
SELF-MADE BAE Eyeshadow Palette
Lookin’ Like A Million Bucks
These shades are deep berry and earthy shades with matte and shimmering finishes. Shade names include: #SELFMADE, #SLAY, #HBIC, #MONEY, #CEO, #EMPIRE, #HUSTLE, #BOSS, #WERK, #QUEEN, #ROLEMODEL, #EQUALPAY
Quality and pigment-wise all the colors are phenomenal. The mattes blend and layer beautifully. They are also silky and pigmented with minimal fallout. The transition shades are fabulous. The shimmers are almost creamy to the touch and blend smoothly. As you can see by the swatches, all two palettes are very pigmented and swatch evenly on the hand. The matte shades are buildable and blend easily on the eyes. As for the shimmers, they are very pigmented and don’t have a lot of fallout.
Of the two palettes, surprisingly I prefer the Self-Made Bae palette although I’m not much into purple shades. I normally lean towards more warmer shades but I found that the Badass Bae Eyeshadow Palette just had too many burnt orange matte shades. Despite that, quality and performance-wise it’s excellent. For me, I really try to stick with my rule of buying palettes if I think I will like all the colors and these are palettes where I believe you’d be able to wear every single shade. I’m still going to try to make the purples work for me but it’s never really been an eyeshadow color I gravitate towards although purple is actually my favorite color. Funny, isn’t it. For drugstore eyeshadows, these are very good.
Bottom line, such great hits from Catrice and for my first time using their eyeshadows, I am super impressed. I think both palettes come with very wearable shades that are perfect for creating every day looks but also some more intense smoky eyes. And come on, how cute are the shade names? Totally recommend these!!!
Look wearing a few of the colors from Self-Made Bae #SLAY, #HBIC, #SELFMADE, #EMPIRE, #HUSTLE and #QUEEN
Catrice is available in Canada at select Shoppers Drug Mart and they are priced at $16.99 CAD each.
Have you tried any of these eyeshadow palettes as yet? What did you think?
