CATRICE TRUE SKIN HYDRATING FOUNDATION

There are a few new foundation formulas out this season and today I have a review of the Catrice True Skin Hydrating Foundation ($US 11 / CAD $13.99 for 30 ml/1.01 fl oz). There are three undertones, Warm, Cool and Neutral and is available in 20 shades.

The new True Skin Hydrating Foundation has a lightweight fluid texture. Formulated with Hyaluronic acid and watermelon seed oil for extra hydration, the True Skin Hydrating Foundation melts into your skin nicely. It has a thin consistency and dries down very quickly. It feels very lightweight and glides on nicely offering medium coverage. It is longwearing and buildable to full coverage in my opinion. I’ve found it sets quite nicely with a satin matte finish but not dry or cakey like some matte base formulas have. It feels hydrating on the skin but not a dewy wet feel. It just feels very comfortable. I didn’t find that you need to set it with powder which is pretty surprising for a hydrating foundation. If you’re oily, you may want to consider setting with a powder though.  On my dry/combination/dehydrated skin, it lasts nicely for about 8 hours and I did not need to touch up at all.  Really covers redness, acne and sun spots very well. Only thing is it does crease a tiny bit under my eyes but other than that, it looks very beautiful on the skin.

The foundation is alcohol free, gluten free, vegan and paraben free.

I’m wearing the foundation above. I was sent the following four shades: 020 Warm Beige, 030 Neutral Sand, 033 Cool Almond and 046 Neutral Toffee (swatches as noted). I personally have a warm undertone. With this True Skin Hydrating Foundation formula, I found I can get away wearing either 020 Warm Beige or 030 Neutral Sand right now. I tried both on my face, 020 on one side and 030 on the other. I can barely tell the difference when it’s blended out (even though from swatches there is a clear difference between the colors) but 020 have more of a hint of warmth to it so it matches me a lot better. The other two shades 033 was too cool/pink for my skintone and 046 was too dark. However, in the summertime when I’m a bit daker, I can mix 046 with 020 and 030 and I can see this really working out for me.

My favorite way is the brush method, but the formula is really easy to blend with a sponge as well. I didn’t try it with my fingers as that is usually not a preferred choice.

Overall, it has performed really well for me and both Warm and Neutral undertones in this foundation work for my skin.

You can find the Catrice True Skin Hydrating Foundation out now at Ulta stores, Ulta.com, Amazon, Shoppers Drug Mart, and catricecosmetics.com
