Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette

It is an exclusive contour palette featuring three shades for contouring and three shades for highlighting, designed to shape and define facial features to create a look of authentic dimensionality.

Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette (US $46.00 & CAD $55.00) includes three highlight shades and three contour shades. All the shades are matte and the palette is warm tone but also works great whether you’re of fairer or deeper skin tones because the shades are very blendable. The palette includes the following shades:
-Shade powder in Sombre (true taupe), Shadowplay (soft brown), Subconscious (deep brown)
-Light powder in Lucid (pinkish nude), Lyric (yellow beige), Levitation (soft peach)

The texture is very silky, soft and smooth. The pigmentation is really great and blends out easily and effortlessly into the skin for a seamless look. These are true matte sculpting powders. There was a bit of a product kick up and it was a little powdery but they are really silky and creamy and performs nicely.  I would recommend gently tapping off your brush to remove any excess product! The highlighting powders are a bit chalky but they are extremely smooth and finely milled. The colors do not show up muddy or orange on my NC40 skin tone which is great!  It does last all day and still looks pretty good!

The packaging looks a lot like Kat Von D art work style which looks pretty cool. It is really sturdy and you get a large mirror but it is not as compact for travelling. The pans in this palette are divided into the Light shades on top, and the Contour shades on the bottom. You do get a lot of product but the packaging is a bit bulky although I don’t mind it. This is more of a palette that you will keep at home, on hand for everyday use.

Don’t worry about not knowing what to do with this palette. There are some really beautiful illustrations that were done by Kat Von D herself and it does guide you on how to use the palette especially if you’re a beginner who is just learning how to contour and highlight for the first time or an amateur like myself…haha 🙂

This is a fantastic palette and I am really enjoying it a lot.
