Happy New Year everyone! Wishing you the very best for 2018. Thank you for following along on my beauty discoveries. It is just so wonderful to be able to share what I love and having your support on this journey. Since I rarely did any monthly beauty favorites last year, today I want to share with you some of my makeup and skincare favorites of 2017. My favorites include things I love and have used the most the last year, some new and some old. It’s always nice to look back on the things you’ve been using throughout the year. While looking at my favorites I realized that I have a few repeats from 2016 beauty favorites but these are honestly my most used makeup of 2017. I know I’ve been a bit neglectful on my blog over the past few months or so, and I’m still gonna be a bit busy this year working on a project but I plan to step up the beauty side of my blogging in 2018 and post a lot more content. Okay, now onto my favourites…
The Face/Cheeks
- Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer in 001 – by far the best highlighter I’ve ever used. It is just stunning on the skin. I’ve already put a dent in it.
- Pixi Quick Fix Powder ‘Translucid’* – best loose setting powder discovery this year. This makes my skin looks airbrush, seriously.
- Becca Sunlit Bronzer – it’s one of the most natural looking bronzers that gives the skin a sunkissed look.
- Make Up For Ever Stick Foundation ‘153’ – one of the best foundations and one that I used the most last year (review here)
- Shiseido Ibuki Smart Filtering Smoother* – a primer I initially hated at first but felt in love with it after I figured out how to actually make it work for me. I love this for smoothing out my skin and love that it helps blur out lines and pores so foundation application is easier. It also hydrates dry patches for dry skin so I like that a lot.
- Marc Jacobs Dew You Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter – I love this for giving a beautiful healthy glow and also for mixing in with foundation/primer or adding a luminous glow to the cheeks in a very natural way.
The Eyes
- Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 5 #02 – if I’m being honest, this is what I reached for most of the year. Sometimes when I don’t know what look to do, my hands just automatically reached for this palette.
- Natasha Denona Eyeshadow HOLIDAY Palette 02 Aeris – sorry this is limited-edition and came out for the holiday season. I love all the shades in this palette. The colors are just so beautiful and they just create some of the most beautiful looks.
- Viseart Petit PRO – this is a palette you can use for any occasion. It’s versatile and has a good mix of neutrals and some brighter/warmer shades.
- Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil – it has rival my ABH Brow Wiz but this one from Benefit is what I’ve reached for most last year as it’s just a very easy to wear pencil.
- L’Oreal Lash Paradise in Blackest Black – you don’t ever need to buy a high end mascara. This is a great one for lengthening and holding your curl, won’t smudge and stays put too.
The Lips
- Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo in Dreamer – I’m a gloss or shiny lipstick girl at heart and these GIRL Lip Stylos offer a nice sheen but with pigment and coverage than a sheer glossy lipstick.
- Elf Cosmetics Lip Plumping Gloss* – honestly, I really don’t feel or see any plumping with this so I don’t wear it for that but I love how glossy it looks and it actually keeps my lips hydrated and best of all, it’s not sticky.
- Fresh Beauty Lip Treatment* – my favorite lip balm. I just love how they make my lips feel.
- Tom Ford Lips and Boys in Addison & Collin – best nude lip colors of the year and ones I reach for over and over again when I’m uncertain what lip shade to wear.
- Burberry Liquid Lip Velvets in Dark Rosewood* – the best neutral rose color to wear year round. Okay, this seriously is right behind my Kat Von D Lolita so it’s kind of a tie 🙂
- Bite Beauty The Lip Pencil* – I don’t wear lip pencils all that much…I honestly really just forget most times. In fact, these are the only ones I own after my purge/declutter and they are by far some the best lip pencils I’ve tried. They are creamy and pigmented. (realized I didn’t include these in pic…oops!!)
The Skincare
In terms of skincare favorites, I will just refer you to this post right here as these are some of the best serums and moisturizers that I have used consistently for the past year.
- Pixi x Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse* – I started using this one later on in the year but I love it. I love how effective it is. It cleanses the skin very well in a very gentle way leaving no residue behind.
- Bioderma Sensibio Foaming Gel – I started using this cleanser later in the year as well but it has since become a favorite. It’s now my go-to gentle face wash and I love it. It really cleans the face without stripping, irritating or drying out the skin.
- Rosalena Frank & Sense Facial Oil – Best facial oil discovery of 2017. It’s so good and is my favorite face oil of the year to hydrate dry skin.
- Instytutum ‘s Flawless Pads (Daily Power Multi-Acid Resurfacing Treatment)* – Best facial peel pads for the year to renews your skin overnight! I use as an exfoliator to help get rid of dead skin and polish the face.
- Pixi Milky Mist – Not shown here because I just finished the bottle and threw out the empty bottle in the trash. I hate hoarding empty containers but it has such a fine mist and it is beautifully hydrating in a light way which is just how I like it. Will repurchase asap!!
All done. What are some of your favorites for 2017? I would love to hear all about your favorites so please share in the comments below.
Ann-Marie x
