Whenever Hourglass comes out with something new, my horns perk up because I love absolutely everything I have tried from the brand, well expect the Modernist Eyeshadow Palettes. I wasn’t the biggest fan of these but once I saw these Vanish Foundation Sticks, I knew I wanted to try them. As someone who’s literally lazy to use concealer at times and with a promise like the coverage of a concealer, the fluidity of a liquid, and weightlessness of a powder for invisible full coverage, these new foundation sticks sounded like a complexion dream and any foundation junkie like myself would be desperate to try them. Also launched with the foundations is the Vanish Foundation Brush designed to buff and blend the new foundation formula to flawless smooth perfection; however, I did not pick this up.
Described as a foundation and concealer in one, Vanish Foundation’s concentrated formula is infused with double the amount of pigment versus traditional foundations for instant full coverage in one application. The long-wearing, waterproof formula provides 12 hour coverage, and the innovative formula adjusts to your body temperature to effortlessly blend into the skin. This unique foundation stick is a poured liquid formula designed to adjust to your own body temperature to blend into your skin, for the smoothest, most seamless finish. The intense concentration of pigment allows for the fullest coverage while maintaining a weightless feel on the skin.
Encased in a unique triangular bullet shaped twist up sticks for precise application. The Hourglass Vanish foundation stick comes in an impressive range of 26 shades and the shade I have is Beige, which is a medium shade with warm undertone. The color is a perfect match with my medium/olive complexion despite the fact that I have a summer tan going on.
This foundation stick is incredible! It feels as silky smooth as a liquid foundation and has a satin finish that just has a beautiful natural glow. It is very creamy and emollient and it’s not heavy on the skin either. It’s easy to blend and does not look cakey, but be forewarned that this does accentuate pores; at least for me it does. Honestly, until this foundation, I did not even realized I had a pore problem, no seriously!! Personally, I find that if I don’t use a primer with this foundation, it will settle in the fine lines on my forehead as well as emphasize pores BUT with a pore filling primer, it is fantastic and really can leaves skin with a poreless look. Although a full coverage foundation, you can also get a nice medium coverage depending on how much you layer and what tool you use for application. Additional, it does a decent job of concealing discoloration, imperfections and minor under eye circles which is awesome because as I’ve mentioned on my blog before, I’m pretty lazy when it comes to concealer application. However, if you have really noticeable dark under-eye circles, you’ll need a concealer or corrector. Also, this wore really well on me for about 6-7 hours but it might depend on your skin type how well this lasts, and I am combination/dry but I do get a bit oily around my T-zone.
I also like how quick and easy it is to use. I just put two swipes on each cheek, a swipe on my nose, a swipe on my forehead and on my chin. Then I’ll blend that in with a brush and the result is flawless and my skin tone is even. This is also perfect to just throw in your pursue for any concealing touch-ups or for travelling. All in all, this is an excellent stick foundation and the only other stick foundation I have is the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation which is currently my favorite.
