PIXI MATTELAST LIQUID LIP

PIXI MATTELAST LIQUID LIP

I’ve been experimenting with so many lip colors recently and one formula I felt in love with are the Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip. This formula has been out for a while but I never tried it until recently. I have 5 of the 6 shades I received as press samples that I will be sharing today.

The colors I have are:

Pastel Petal: pink toned beige

Matte Beige: warm natural beige

Au Naturelle: light nude peach

Really Rose: dusty rose

Evening Rose: dark dusty rose pink

Infused with rosehip oil, these MatteLast Liquid Lips are a range of extremely longwearing and comfortable lip colors with great pigment. The formula have a thin, watery consistency. They did not dry out my lips nor did they make my lips peel but I would not say they are moisturizing either. As with most liquid lipsticks they dry to a matte finish and can make the lips look just a bit wrinkly. Whenever I do wear liquid lipsticks, I always prep my lips with a balm like Fresh Sugar or Rosalena Lip balm – they just add a bit of moisture underneath and make the lips look less textured. These MatteLast Liquid Lips really do last all day and once they dry they stay put and don’t budge. I didn’t get much color transfer to cups once they were fully dried. I think the formula is great and for a liquid lip formula I give these a thumbs up. I really love the look of Evening Rose, Really Rose and Matte Beige. I do favor Evening Rose because it’s deeper and easier for me to wear color-wise. In my opinion, Pastel Petal and Matte Beige are way too similar and I cannot tell a real difference when they’re on my lips, even in swatches as you can see. However, I also find that sometimes the colors shift when they dry down and for some reason my complexion and lip color make the liquids pull differently. Lasting power is typical with these – they literally stay put all day long without budging and a little goes a long way. Of course if you do eat, then you need to reapply.

I also like the applicator on these as they make applying liquid lipstick an easy task. There is no need for a lip liner because the applicator provides the perfect amount of colour.

Overall, I like that these are unscented and don’t dry out my lips. All five nude pink shades are very flattering/wearable and fairly comfortable for a liquid lipstick.

You can find the Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip at Shoppers Drug Mart here in Canada or online.

Have you tried these? Any favorite colors?
