Springish Makeup…
So it’s finally spring around these parts despite the fact that it’s still rather chilly outside and all this week, it will be raining cats and dogs with single digit temperature – can you say 3 degrees Celsius (low -2)! Yikeeees! Either way, I’m ready for light fresh makeup, pinky nude colors and brighter clothes (Okay, who am I kidding, I’m still going to be wearing black, white and greys). Here are some of my makeup picks to get you ready for spring…
Starting with my base, I pulled out a favorite foundation, the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, a lightweight tinted foundation that gives a dewy, sheer-to-medium coverage to the skin, leaving it looking hydrated and radiant. I love the way it gives just enough of a glow to look natural and skin-like.
For my eyes, I’ve been sweeping on the Stila Eyes are the Window Palette in Spirit, which is a combination of beautiful rose gold hues. I usually wash over a couple of the champagne shimmer shades over my lids, and then blend with the darker brown. It takes no time at all, and always emphasizes my eyes. This palette is the perfect mix of both cool and warm toned shades. An affordable single eyeshadow from the drugstore is the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush that I love to sweep all over my lids as well. It’s the perfect one-and-done rose gold shade for spring that gives a beautiful wash of color.
To match the soft tones, and to keep the look fresh, I opted for a light cream contour, and cream blush/highlight. To create a natural contour to sculpt the cheekbones, I’ve been loving the new Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Palette in #30. I absolutely love how creamy the formula of this palette is and how natural it looks. I like using the cheek color to add a subtle pop of color. The palette gives a really beautiful finish that is incredibly glowy and dewy. The shimmer highlight is a beautiful, soft highlight that gives a very dewy glow.
While I love my peachy shade blushes, I also love a pinky flush to the cheeks, and this NARS Dual-Intensity Blush in Adoration is the perfect pink for spring! These blushes are lightweight, silky, ultra-smooth, highly pigmented, and easily blendable. Only a tiny amount is needed to give your cheeks a flush of colour and the duo works beautiful layered together or each on their own. Another notable mention that I’ll also be rotating and one that I pull out every spring is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette. This is a really versatile palette and the colors look good individually or with two of them layered (any combination works). All the colors look good with neutral pinks, nude, plum or peach lips. The blushes have enough color to bring life to the face, but are subtle enough to wear with a bold lip. It’s just perfect for spring!
Lastly, on my lips I like the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer Lipgloss in Some Girls, a beautiful punch pink shimmer, as they are super hydrating making my lips feel nourish and smooth. They are shiny without being too sticky. A couple other shades that I’ll be rotating are MAC Sunny Seoul, a creamy warm pink that leaves a pretty pearlescent sheen and is just gorgeous in the spring; and Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick in Blushing Bud, a medium pink with a subtle hint of warm coral and a luminous finish. This is one of my favorite drugstore lipstick. Love how it is so creamy and feels comfortable on the lips.
