The Minimal Makeup Routine

The Minimal Makeup Routine001As a Mom of two little ones, I am always on the go and sometimes I need to get ready quickly and ‘5 minutes’ is all I’ve got so I want products that are quick and easy to apply. Keeping things simple and natural looking is the way to go but at the same time, I do want to look fresh and glowing. When you want to get your skin breathing and you really don’t want to wear a lot of makeup, a minimal look is better.

The Minimal Makeup Routine002The Base:
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Sand: This is a perfect blend of skincare and makeup that hydrates skin and softens fine lines with a sheer hint of color for a healthy, dewy glow. This gives the skin a fresh, healthy, no-makeup look with a soft hint of color that evens and enhances without hiding the skin. I then apply Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Sand (review here); I love this concealer for brightening up my under-eyes and keeping those dark circles at bay. I also use it as a highlighter on my cheekbones, nose, and chin.

The Minimal Makeup Routine004The Cheeks:
Dior Cocktail Peach Blush: My blush of choice is Dior Cocktail Peach (review here). This is a gorgeous blush and the formula is so smooth and pigmented. It is super flattering on my olive skin and it brightens up my complexion! Then I finish off with Kevyn Aucoin Highlighter in Candlelight (review here) for a subtle healthy glow.

The Minimal Makeup Routine005The Eyes:
Brows can make a huge difference in your overall look and I fill in my brows with Benefit Gimme Brow (review here); this is super quick and easy and it fills in the sparse areas perfectly! I then apply Marc Jacobs Highliner Eye Crayon in Brownout to add a quick, thin line of liner to define my lashes; it is super creamy and I absolutely love the formula. To finish off my eyes, I use Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (review here). Mascara is an essential part of my daily routine and I love this one because it separates, coats and curls each lash perfectly, adding volume and giving fuller thicker defined lashes.

The Minimal Makeup Routine007The Lips / Finishing Touches:
Finally, I then finish off with Essence’s All About Cupcake Lipstick (review here). This is a new discovery for me and I must say I am enjoying this lipstick as it gives a nice sheer wash of color to the lips that leaves you with a natural bright flush that is quite moisturizing and also make you look put together.
